Seems odd that there is no kind of nylon bag liner that fits into the 8" hatch openings on the Hobie... but then again maybe there is and I have not found it.   The hatch bins are cute, but really too small to hold much.   So much space down there, but no way to effectively use it.  I'd prefer to just stuff my plano boxes in there, but without a bag to contain them they would bounce around never to be retrievable again until dry land.   I know eventually my kayak will end up upside down in the ocean, so I'd like my gear securely stored securely INSIDE the kayak when at all possible.

The deep gear bucket is one solution.  There are other homeade solutions on the innertube.

I have an orange plano water tight tackle box attached behind the seat. I also attached 3 rod holders to it.
I place my tackle boxes inside.  I use the large Hobie Gear Bucket inside the middle hatch.

+1 (only with four rod holders)

That's a good question--and I'm surprised Hobie doesn't make a hatch bag. I've thought about modifying an old sleeping bag stuff sack to fit in there...but haven't tried it yet.
I have 2 painters buckets inside the center hatch. I believe they're 3qt buckets and I get em at Home depot. You have to trim the lip off the top but they fit well. Then I put velcro tape w/adhesive on the bottom of each bucket and inside the hull so they don't move around.
They look like this picture below.

But yeah, I also use a orange Plano box w/rod holders in the tankwell. I keep my lures/tackle in there and everything else inside the bucket in the hull.

Does anyone know if the Hobie bucket bags will fit in the hatch? Would that be an option for ya?

I like the buckets!   Funny, I had the same sleeping stuff sack idea.  Got an old one and ties that into the holes in the hatch lip.  Hobie bucket still fits in top. Problem solved, but yes I'm surprised hobie does not make a real solution.

Never mind. Looking at the pic. There's no notch for the twist latch to lock and make its seal. I guess the bag is just to store your buckets together.

The inside of my yak is lined with rubberized mat.  I use several med-size planos, some fly boxes, and even a small open top tray and none of it moves when I am on the water.
