Went and saw the judge today, if you don't have a license the fine is $485!, once I showed him my license it was reduced to the standard $192, I asked him if he could help a little with the fine. so, he reduced it further to $100 even, worth the drive from Auburn.
:smt001  I was happy.  Lesson learned, "don't leave home without it"

Ouch, $100 stings a bit, but better than 192 and a whole lot better than 485,

Thanks for the update.

Judge Wick?

such a waste of judicial time/money. if you forgot your license at home or lost it while you're fishing/hunting they should give you a warning and not have to result to this. if you didn't buy the license and go out and fish/hunt then you should have to pay a fine. this makes me so mad because we're human and we forget or we lose the license sometimes :smt013 :smt013

dfg needs to get with the times and have something mobile for them to check up license data from your drivers license. i think other states have this.... we pay so much in taxes every year in this state and you would think they would have something like this :smt013

At most this should be like a "fix-it" traffic ticket.  $10 with proof that you were licensed at the time the ticket was issued.  Typical California,  Anything to squeeze another dollar (or hundred) out of honest tax payers.  As a law enforcement officer, I apologize profusely for the blood sucking embarrassment that is our judicial system.

Law enforcement officers take an oath to enforce penal and fish and game codes. While I have generally found enforcement officers to be generous and let things slide or look the other way for minor transgressions, they are violating there oath to enforce. I am happy for this. Judges can use discretion for setting bail and penalties, for which many of them are also generous towards minor transgressions.

The underlying problem is the ridiculous laws and systems we as the people, officers and judges must operate under.

Your a Good Man Charlie Brown ! :smt001. But you should not have to apologize for others not taking time or consideration for there mistakes. Was a GOOD gesture on your part. Thank you for that.
And no offense meant by Charlie brown. I reference to much .. as you can tell from television.   :smt003

See ya on the water . :smt006

Used to be a ten dollar fine, but California is so broke they have to squeeze every penny out of their law abiding citizens. At least the judge lowered it to a hundred.

In Florida all you need is a picture ID and enforcement can check your license status on the spot from their data base. Also your license is good for 1 year from the date you purchase it. Seems like a simple enough system to implement.
Glad you got your fine reduced.

Yes, but that requires something called "technology" which, apparently, we don't have much of here in CA, the home of Silicon Valley...

It's pretty ridiculous that wardens can't confirm licenses I. The field. It's almost like this isn't 2015.

All it would require is to be synced with CLETS........

Then they could run your name for all the info you need.

I wonder if the ticket is the same if you were never licensed?
