Made a plan to extend my birthday fun by diving on Sunday AM, and then meeting family and friends at beach after for chilling, fish fry, and kiddy play time on the kayaks.  :smt001

Met up with Dennis Old #7, Jim baitman, Natahan sharkait, e2g and some of nathan's college gymnast buddies at first light and paddled out to an area where I was confident I could find some Lings and rockies for the fryer.

Blasted the first three legal Lings I saw (males between 24 and 27 inches) and popped a decent blue as well.

Current was pretty strong and it was a little too deep for Dennis so we moved in closer to another area I really like.

Found a few blues chilling on top of a boulder and called Dennis over and he dropped down and nailed one! First blood baby!!

 :smt003 :smt004 :smt003

Then he proceeded to blast a few more while I scouted for a holed up Ling for him. Found one in the same crack where I got this nice 35 incher in 2014:

Shoved my gun in the crack next to it and called Nathan over for his help to light it up for Dennis so I could film the action...course by the time we got ready to go the Ling had left.   :smt013 :smt044

I took one more look to make sure it wasn't in there hiding, it wasn't, and shot back up frustrated...and smacked my head HARD into the underside of the overhung booulder.  :smt011 :smt010 :smt009

Could see I was bleeding but didn't hurt that bad so kept diving.  :smt005

Moved in closer to launch and found a BIG cab head in a very tight hole...thought about calling Dennis over to shoot it but the hole was awkward and the cab twitched so I shot it between the eyes.  :smt005

Tuned out to be a royal PITA extracting the cab from the narrow hole and it took borrowing Dennis' gun for a second solid shot before I was able to reach my arm in up to the elbow get a finger in the eye socket and wiggle the head out far enough to where I could get my hand in the mouth and wrench it out.

Looked huge underwater but "only" taped out to 23 inches.  :smt005  Still my biggest so far this year.

Jumped back up on yak and cleaned fish real quick while Dennis got into harvest mode and popped several more decent rockies!! Nice job bro!!

Back at beach we met up with all the families and some friends including Russ DesertDiver and Chaeki.

I fileted the three Lings for fried nuggets, did a steaked cabbie that I had brought down, and also served up some sheephead sashimi.

Dennis did chicken thighs and sausages and there was plenty of food and drink for all.

The kids played on the sand, and in the waves and on the yaks and a great time was had by all.

Here is a mini vid and a bunch o pics including some more food porn from back at the house.

It was great seeing you too dude and I was nummed when I saw you driving away so soon!  :smt010

But yeah when wife needs to go, it's smart to go!  :smt002

My wife actually padled out TWICE on the kayaks sunday with two different friends?!???? Maybe she is finally coming around???  :smt002 :smt003

I went to urgent care yesterday to get the cut checked...no need for stitches and no concussion...

Diagnosis was "hard head, lucky to have a westuit hood on, big dummy-itis".

I was there Jim. Talked to Chaeki before go in, and came back after Chaeki. Didn't see you.  :smt013 Very nice video you have. I took your advice and put the Gopro on head strap. wear it inside the hood. Made some videos. But the head strap buckle start to hurt my head. And the mask was leaking like hell. Do you have similar problem? How do you fix it? How do you operate the Gopro when its over your head and you can't see it?

First thing, glad to hear your hard head is OK.  Enjoyable day with fun stories of Dennis hunting down and shootn' rockfish, WTG BRO! Food, food, food, my favorite was the sheep sashsimi.  Nathan and college buddies enjoying the "warm water",   Watchn' the kids and families take the kayaks on some mini adventures reminds me of how fast our kids grow up.  A Great time and hated to leave before sunset, as it was only made it Sac before I called kids to crash at their house for the night.  O yeah, more WAF points for bring back the table  :smt005
