Looking for a great flashlight. What do you have and where did you get it? Need something not so bulky but with a good adjustable beam... :smt006

Phenix TK35.

I just want one, but haven't bought one yet. A buddy who is into all the best gear had a couple and.."left" one at my house for a few days. Awesome candlepower in such a small light.

Snap-On Tools flashlight from Costco. Got tired of Mag Lites where I had to partially unscrew the end in order to get the damn light to turn on.

Lumen measures the total light emitted in all directions. Useful for lamp bulbs.

Candela measures the brightness in a particular direction. Useful for flashlight beams.

Dude, you have literally thousands to choose from. Flashlights have come a long way in the last five years. Nowadays high power LED lights are very cheap, efficient, and bright. It's all about what you want. I used to spend thousands to make my own bright flashlights, but you could buy the same thing for less than $30 these days. Hundreds of manufacturers to choose from.

Anyhow, this one is cheap and bright. I got one of these. The build quality is very good as well...

Buy a lithium charger and a couple of 18860 rechargeable batteries for ~$30. You're set for a long time.

With the current LED technology, a bright LED flashlight is roughly ~1000 lumens per LED. Only low power flashlights express their specs with candle power. Don't get too hung up on numbers. The difference between 100 and 200 lumens is huge, but the difference between a 1000 lumen and an 800 lumen flashlight is not very much to your eyes if any at all.

Flashlights that use primary cells are all bulky. All the compact flashlights use lithium or rechargeable lithium.

I don't think I've used a flashlight since I bought my first head lamp something like 20 years ago. (Probably an exaggeration...)

Some of these new "tactical" looking flashlights are pretty neat looking though...

This works great, is very adjustable and lasts for hours.  Very inexpensive.  I bought my first one 2 years ago and have since bought two more as I like it enough to keep one in each car as well.

Very bright, it's got to be seen to be believed.

I also bought this kit version that has a more powerful rechargable battery.  It's even brighter than the other three I now have and I keep it with me most of the time;

The only issue I've had is that they take forever to get here as they ship by slow boat from China.  But for the price, I'm o.k. with that.

I don't own any standard flashlights anymore, we even went away from them in the Fire department before I retired.  All I own are water resistant and water proof LED Headlamps. Cheap, bright,and the batteries last forever. I do have one Halogen a waterproof 10Watt Petzl. throws one heck of a beam.
