Check out Dorcy brand LED flashlites, anywhere online, especially Amazon, I've had a few and every one is surprisingly good for the PRICE.  Not high end, many waterproof models with push button switch instead of the PITA twist on/off.

One I've had for years and it's beat to hell but just still works great,

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

YOU might remember this flashlight Andy  :smt003  It's one of my favorites, bright as all hell but hella small and only uses 1 X AA. It's dim-able, and switches from White to Red, and flashes on either. Lasts a long time on a decent rechargeable AA.  http://www.amazon.com/LRI-PPRO-Proton-2-Colors-Flashlight/dp/B001CZ9CCO  I had to buy another one after I loaned my last one to Andy at a previous Forebay FnC to go to his van.  He was gone 5 mins, and had no clue where it was when he returned.  :smt013   I've never paid that much for them, think 30$ at max on eBay, or some other site.

Also I really like my Petzel Tika 2 headlamps.  They are very long lasting and desiged to conserve batteries (like 140hrs on 3xAAA) and quite bright.  Quick Flip adjustment for focused or wide beams, and swaps to red leds.

BUT I really like the looks of the ones that Jerry posted!  So many options to choose from, but very reasonable looking prices.  Might have to get a couple to try out  :smt002

 Andy,       Stop in at Big Creek Lumber on Soquel.      Best flashlight I've ever used.  LED,  3 AAA's  Super bright beam, ( like a car headlight ) + it extends out and becomes a brilliant  ( blinding ) work light .   magnetic base,  all aluminum, solid...  30 dollars and worth every penny of it.   IMHO

After looking at the Mini CREE LED lights Jerry posted, scratch that... I'm not going to buy a special battery and charger for a flashlight.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

  For work, its a Stream Light Stinger with the piggy back charger and a standard bulb. Compact and bright. I prefer the standard bulb over the LED model, the standard beam seems more intends while the LED is a whiter light but seems less intense. For home I opt for a 3D Mag Light with a LED up grade. Batteries last for ever, actually had this set up in a 6D, but the batteries blew up killing the light after well over a year, maybe two in the light,  used it every night to feed the dogs.

One of my favorites is an Vietnam surplus style L shaped one with LED upgrade.  Simple but good.  Also have a few Mag Lites and headlamps but the ones that actually get used the most are the free ones from Harbor Freight.

I'm cheap.

From the listing on Amazon;
"This mini flashlight can use AA size Alkaline, NiMH and lithium 14500 batteries"

You aren't buying a special battery, you are buying a rechargable AA battery is all.  It runs fine on a AA Alkaline.

Thanks for all the leads guys! Sooo much to choose from, I really don't want to pay over forty bucks for one, I'm pretty cheap. :smt003. Moving out to the country having to go up the hill to the chicken coop or water reservoir gets frustrating with a cheap flashlight.Those of you who have been to my house know what I mean. Thanks again guys! :smt008
