I know a lot of you guys are already using plano's and flambeau box's. Just thought I'd share mine.
The flambeau was the only box I could find locally. I added a pad eye on each side and instead of washers for a backer I went ahead and backed it with pad eyes on the inside.
Picked up a couple stainless and aluminum turnbuckles to hold it firmly in my kayak. On the kayak I added two pad eyes as well. Which holds It firm enough that I can lift the kayak without it moving.
In the top I bolted on a mighty mount which was just a bit to wide so I shaved it down a bit. Also put a few extra Velcro straps on the handle for the hell of it. Might come in handy at some point.
Now all I need is a 3 rod holder and I'm done. Not sold locally so I've gotta wait on it.

And the best part.....
I've been holding on to this sticker waiting to find the perfect spot for it. And finally I think I found it.

Looks great, might want to leash the lid. Sometimes they fall off (and sink fast) when loaded with lead and opened to enthusiastically.... ask me how I know :( .

Skip the pre-manufactured rod holder. I don't like how they make your rods stick straight up (especialy with heavy lures/weighte potentially banging around). I like to use pvc so I can spread them out and keep the rods away from each other. I'll try to find some pics for reference.

Switched to the Jumbo Plano box years ago. A crate just doesn't cut in in the event of a "swim" and my lunch, sunglasses, hats, spare tackle etc all stay dry. Also attached a cord to limit the distance the lid will open...just past vertical. Went with the three rod holder and spaced it away from the crate with a bit of pvc allowing the lid to function without hitting the reels.

Nice rod holder set-up on the box, O2B. Do have pad eyes on it to secure it to the boat or how are you doing that?

Actually I use the stock Hobie bungie only shortened with four carribeners to the stock eyelets. I like the bungie as it gives a little bit of shock absorption in the event of a crash beach landing.   :smt002
