Hi Oldfart and NCKA Bruddahs,

I had the same problem after flipping my my Hobie Oasis Tandem after trying to lift out a Danielson rectangular crab trap that was full of crabs as I was coming into the harbor, after someone told me that I had to sort all of the crabs before I landed. I lifted the trap over the PVC holders in the back of the kayak and it was too heavy to lift and I ended up in the water. Like the Outback, the hull of my Oasis Tandem is very wide and I had a very hard time reaching across the hull to pull it upright.
After that experience, I saw a post from a NCKA Bruddah who posted about WATERBUG'S Rescue Ladders. They are very compact and I bought 2 of them one for each side of my kayak. You can quickly pull them out and toss it over the hull and it has strong plastic/pvc type ladder rungs to pull the hull over and then use the ladder to climb in the kayak. They are very cheap $15.95 each.

the website is: shop.kayakselfrescueladder.com

Aloha,
DA Bruddah

Oldfart!  It was good to meet you,  brother.
He's just being modest. John was flipping his 'yak w one arm. Seeing him in action looked a lot like those discovery channel shows of the white sharks hitting seals from below and jumping completely out of the water!

Uh.... I didn't know you smoked that stuff Jeremy  :smt002

Lol no, nothing ingested. Actually I was kinda glad when that Michael dude was having a hard time flipping your boat. Def something to be aware of.

Idk how you felt, but I kinda left wanting a little more.  Was good info don't get me wrong; I never woulda practiced flipping my boat on my own, and I needed the tweaks to my paddling to be more efficient, but, idk?  I guess I woulda liked to go out of the bay some or something.  Makes me wonder how much diff a level 1 class is?

My disclaimer is tho,  that I had great time and I did learn plenty

Anyone know when the next class is? Or who i can contact for this kind of info?

Does anyone else wanna get in on this? Since they could hold a class for just 2 students, i would assume it should be easy to schedule a flexible day. Im really looking forward to this.

I'm pretty sure they don't do such a small group very often.   That has to be a loosing deal for the company. Kind of like a lost leader to promote their classes.  Don't get me wrong,  I like small group just as much as I like going on a party boat with just 10 guys too.  I also know CCK has to make a buck or two o  the deal.
