Wondering if anyone in the san rafael area has a trail camera I could barrow for a few nights.  I've been cleaning cat poop out of my front yard everyday for the last couple of weeks (who knew cats would poop on grass?) and I'm tired of it.  There are several possible suspects, and I want to make sure I have the right one(s) before confronting the owner.

Alternatively, if anyone has any non-lethal but effective ways to persuade the offender to poop in someone else's yard, I would truly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Opossum.
If not, dead cats don't poop.

Citrus peels are an effective mechanism to deter cats from pooping in certain areas.  Try it.

My neighbor's dog worked wonders for the cats pooping on my front lawn.  Every morning when the neighbor would bring his dog out the front door to lead it to his car for the daily trip to the dog park, the dog would come running over to my lawn and gobble down all the cat poop she could find.

I doubt it's a cat.  They will always at least attempt to bury their scat, even on a hard surface.  Most likely a wild animal.  The game camera will tell you what.

I've used hardware cloth on my kid's sandbox.  Cat's can't dig, they won't poop.  You might try setting one of those Have-A-Hart traps and catch the critter.  What ever it is, it won't come around twice after being traumatized with a trapping and some poking with a stick.

At least you don't have raccoons ripping up your front yard on a nightly basis like I currently have.   :smt010

"Cat's can't dig, they won't poop."  I've had several cats that loved to poop on my front lawn.  They were like their owner/staff, too lazy to dig.

A neighbors cat use to poop in our flower beds. A mouse trap under the bark fixed that real quick. One snap and it never returned.

I have local cats that poop all over my front yard.  Its a real mess when I step on those landmines while mowing the lawn.   :smt044

Never been able to figure out a way to deter them from doing it, but damn I hate that smell.

I only have this problem when I rinse my fish cleaning table on the lawn.   :smt044

Why are they digging up your lawn?  Looking for worms and grubs?

Pee where they poop. I've done it plenty of times. Plus it saves water for not having to flush.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

+1

These things are awesome. We used to have issues with deer munching on our berry plants (cultivated berries, not the wild ones) and one of these sitting in view of their usual access point stopped them in their tracks. Just make sure to remember its out there, otherwise you'll end up getting a nice bath while running out to fetch the newspaper.
