I always like seeing old-timey pics of fish. And thought this one was pretty rad...the fish AND the cars are pretty sweet!

The caption says: "These two men drove to the old Monterey Peninula Herald office located at Pacific Street and Jefferson Street in Monterey in 1965 to get photographed with their catch of halibut after a spearfishing trip in Monterey Bay." (Monterey Herald archives)

Just California Halibut??? Weak...If they were real divers they'd be targeting PacHali's :smt002

1st picture- 5th kayak back, the custom orange colored one. Pre serial number fiberglass model.

2nd picture- The same kayak, a heirloom that has been past down to me. This picture is me paddling it 33 years later in 2007 .

3rd picture- Taken last summer with the kayak still looking brand new.

Still have the kayak to this day and it still gets its once or twice a year paddle. :smt003

Love the OG Butt pics could probably fit a yak inside that wagon. That Rowyak looks fast (but crunchy), kinda like a Pro fisha with a similar hatch in the front?

Thanks guys for the flash back (way before my time).

I don't get why someone would want to target Pac Hali in Monterey/SC when the Cali Hali fishery produces big ones year in and year out (usually) in relatively shallow water for both divers and anglers...

I know an NCKA member who shot 38 butts this year up to 40+ pounds in Monterey County. Most on SCUBA but still!!

And then you have monsters like this one taken in shallow right off shore:

http://doty.norcalkayakanglers.com/catches/1096

And these by PK:

http://aoty.norcalkayakanglers.com/catches/2378

And DC has proven to all that the butt fishery out of SC can be very productive... :smt007

And...the Marin County Cali Hali scene produced many slugs this year:

http://doty.norcalkayakanglers.com/catches/1168

http://doty.norcalkayakanglers.com/catches/1181

http://doty.norcalkayakanglers.com/catches/1182

Anyway...kinda seems to me that targeting Pac Hali south of Humboldt/Mendo would be like going up further North and looking for Cali Hali...I bet you can find them but the other species is more predominant so why try?

**End thread jack**  :smt002

Trying to catch a pacbutt in Monterey Bay would be like "targeting" sheephead in Shelter Cove. Not gonna catch one but maybe fun trying...

Wish I had a sweet yak-hauler like the wagon in this pic!
