Just unloaded yak and gear after taking a look at the swells between Bodega Bay and Russian River. Figured that TC and SWN might be doable even if  marginal, but I wasn't up for the struggle. Plus, high swell fishing isn't usually very productive. Another day to come.

It was a bummer and a good weekend. Anchor Bay is beautiful - definitely going out there again. The water conditions sucked! I saw the waves, then saw the people porting their kayaks to the launch spot. I stood there wondering if I was just a huge wuss or if those guys were crazy.

Turned out it was both. I'm a wuss, and some of you are crazy!  :smt003

Thanks johnrice for sharing your space with me, caddy chris for the fish bag, and Amos for letting me know I was missing out on the Potluck! I was buried in my book, Neil Gaiman's American Gods. Looked up and was like hey where's everyone...  :smt044

Originally planned to stay until tomorrow, but decided to come home so I could get at least one fishing day in on a lake tomorrow. Bet the water is flat at Anchor Bay tomorrow and I'm missing out....  :smt044 :smt010

Congrats to everyone who won, and I appreciate the person who worked on the check-in and passing out gear on Friday night (never caught her name, and I'm really bad at lip reading people's names anyway ["hello I'm jim0rz4403 on NCKA" "...say what?"  :smt005]) for helping me figure out what needs to be done and what I'm supposed to do. I was surprised when she and some others started fingerspelling at me, that was awesome.

Next year!

Great time reconnecting with some, and meeting others for the first time. Great event, and what a potluck spread and raffle prizes! The usual NCKA style.

After getting home and unloading everything I thought I would take a look at my ankle I sprained jumping off the rock we had to get around coming back from the launch. Holy fuck.

Had a great time seeing familiar faces, and meeting alot of the new ones too!

The right call was made to cancel to tourny due to water conditions; not doing so, would have put more put more folks at risk. (And it would have made me actually go fishing... so he saved me from  having to wash my gear)

Friday Bonfire was fun; fresh roasted sand fleas for snacking was killer!! Great job Burning Man Bill (FFTC).

Potluck was awesome; couldnt get any better! Tons of FOOD!

Congrats to LapuLapu on the PIF grand prize!!! Couldnt have gone to a more generous person! Thanks for the Apritata and Adobo; off the hook!!! And Reelknots BBQ was awesome; so F-ing good, i ate so much i'm again suffering with gout...

Congrats to all the raffle winners, alot of great prizes; and including the tourny prizes in the raffle, was a class act!!!

Anchor Bay was an awesome place; very accomodating to NCKA! Tess and her crew made sure we were well taken care of; including letting us shot B&A on the beach....which by far was the funniest time for me.  Tried a little perch fishing, dispite the locals telling us there were none ever caught; i had no luck, but Noaoki was able to land a barb'd perch.

I opt'd to leave early also Saturday; knew i would have trouble with driving ving with one bad foot...

Finally words... Great job Mike on a well organized tourny; and hats off to your lovely bride, she did an awesome job (one might think she's the brains behind the tourny :smt003) i look forward to next years event, and catching some of those big reds.

Much love to my LS bro & sis, and to my NCKA fam!

That was fun. Thanks Mike, Bill, and sponsors for putting an awesome event. It was nice to hang out again with the crew and meet some old and new faces. Hopefully, next year would be better for fishing.

And to the guy across camp who pitched that mandarin orange and hit me in the eye, You are a fucking Dick! It didnt stop there cause someone pitched another orange in our bonfire then another one later on even after we told them to stop. I dont care if you drink, smoke, or whatever, but don't be an asshole. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt  :smt011

Glad you guys made the best of it. Was on the fence until 10:00AM Sat. Then decided to just stay home and install my new Lowrance FF that's been sitting in a box for 5 months instead. Would've been nice to chill with the NCKA family.

Not cool at all. Hope you're OK Herb  :smt056

Hope it's better than it looks. I had a very similar injury camping at Albion earlier this year. Swelled up and bruised almost identically to your pic. Needed help walking it was so bad. Thought I might have broke something then it went away in two days....weird as hell.  Heal quick bro.

Thanks to everyone specially Mike, his wife and Bill for coordinating another fun tournament.  Although the weather sucked, I still had a great time hanging with everyone and meeting new members who share our passion.

I got lucky and won the awesome grand prize.  I'll never forget yesterday when Pat called my name.  Thanks to the PIF team for having such a great prize.  The PIF cause has always been a favorite of mine because it brings us all together to help someone in need.

The excitement taking the kayak made me careless in strapping my old trident.  Almost lost it on Hwy 1 if not for a well timed stop to take a leak.

Congrats to my 2 site mate Kiel (Reelknots) and Tommy (Butete)  for also winning in the raffle.  Love all the food you guys brought and shared with anyone who came to our site.

Glen and Chuckee,  thanks for helping the old man (me) with his kayak!  It was fun to chill with LS crew again!

Nope, fire wasn't me.  I believe Chris was the master Pyro for the event.  I just brought some wood.  On this subject, special thanks to all those who contributed to the fire & fire events.  Special thanks to all those who contributed to the wonderful food & prep of it.  Special thanks to all those who participated & attended.  You are ALL special people for whom those who helped to organize & manage this event greatly appreciate!  Why else would we drive hours to camp in the rain & high wind?  Lo . Proof NCKA members are a family who can handle anything that comes their way.

I wanted to get in and say thanks to Mike, Bill, Mike's Fam, and everyone else that helped in this event! Also a special shout out to Rider, thank you for all the help and teaching for myself and my kiddo on Friday!. He was beaming on with the fish, new filet skills, and new knowledge on the salt.

He is still on cloud nine after winning that raffle for the Avet as well! He is so jazzed and loves this group! I do too!

It was a pleasure meeting everyone! We will be back next year and to other events as well!

Thanks all!

What a great weekend! Everyone was so nice. Really glad I went. I got out for a little while on friday, but didn't catch anything.
Friday night I had so many of you guys kicking down tackle and pointers that I now have twice as many lures as when I arrived! Thanks guys! Too bad mother nature decided to show us who was in charge.
Totally glad  Mike called it off. My hungover butt would have tried to go out. I don't think I would have lasted long if I had.
Bows and arrows was a blast! Glad I brought my archery gear. Shooting is so much more fun when you have good guys, and gals to shoot with. Totally fun schooling y'all with the kiddie bow!! :smt044

The weather turned to total crap around 3am. Rain and wind were crazy. Got completely soaked walking to the bathroom and back. Sky cleared up but the wind was fierce after about 9:30-10 this morning. BIG WAVES as far as you could see. Monsters breaking out on the horizon looked like they had to be at least 20 foot high.

I have tons of pix on my camera from yesterday's shenanigans.  I'll post them in a bit.

Here's one from last night's bonfire.

The last two of the Magnificent 7 who made it out on Saturday returning into Chicken Cove!  The last is Point Arena lighthouse Sunday morning.....not exactly fishing weather.  Thanks NCKA, Mike L. and all that helped put this on.  Huge pot luck and great people!  Good times, minus fishing!
