One of my crab traps got stuck at Anchor Bay. I think it got hooked up on a rock. I am hoping if anyone is up there fishing or diving they can give it a yank. It is attached to a red and white float with my name, NCKA handle and phone number on it. It is 50-100 yards or so out from the rock straight out from the ramp in about 50 ft of water.

Ken Dye, Traildad written on the float.

Thanks

PS: you can keep any crab in it.

WE had a commercial one that became stuck in the sand when we rented the slip. Everyone said I couldn't get it because guys three times my size has tried. I waited till low tide. tied the short rope off to the slip. It came about a foot. I kept doing this until we had it up. It was a big commercial trap. that was under the sand.

Crab pots left out, in water under 80-100 feet, are subject to "sanding in". As the tides and surge come and go, so does the sand; the pot ends up stuck in sand. Depends on how stuck it is, as to wet her you'll be able to retrieve it.

I had a pot sanded in last year, that I just couldn't get out.  I shortened the rope as much as I could and let the waves do the work.  3 weeks later, it was free ...

I thought about doing that, but not until it was too late. It was only out a few hours before it was stuck. Do they sand in that fast?

I don't think they sand in that fast.  I think you snagged bottom.

Wouldnt recommend using a kayak to "bob" a stuck pot in a swell; if its anchored in good, youre asking for serious trouble. We tried that with a 20' power boat tied to the bow cleat and took on a lot of water over the bow.

Youre best bet is get a power boater to tie it off to there transom cleat and drive in a wide circle around the pot; and keep widen the circle until the you can drag the pot a few hundred yard, then you know its free...

I'm going to try and make it back up to AB for one last trip. What are the GPS #'s?

I'll pull the data from my FF. It's 50-100 yards out from the rock that is straight out from the ramp.

Google Earth shows it to be about 80 yards from the rock at a heading of about 195. N38°47.922' W123°34.940' Thanks
