I got a phone call this morning, somebody rescued my trap. I'm not sure who it was because the cell connection was terrible. It sounded like he said he was in a diving group, not NCKA. He said it was tangled in kelp and wedged between some rocks. Apparently he was looking to retrieve someone's trap and got mine by mistake. I asked him to leave it at the office for me. If anyone is up there and wants to try to get it back to me I'd appreciate it. I'm hoping to go to Crabfest if that works. I'll give Anchor Bay campground a call and let them know what the situation is. Does anyone still have plans to go up there?

I called them and they have it at the office. When does rock fishing close up there?

Well Ken, that is good news! Sounds like someone when to considerable effort to get your pot out. Big props to the anonymous diver. I would think that the sooner it could be picked up the better, a crab pot isn't exactly the kind of thing you want to hold for anyone for an indefinite period of time. Anchor Bay is south of Pt Arena and thus lies in the San Fransisco management Area where rockfish is open for the rest of the calender year. I hope to go back, but with the busy season I may not make it. So far things are working out positively!
Be seeing you, Amos

I agree I don't want to take advantage of their hospitality. My wife and I are discussing the possibility of a weekend trip to get it. Definitely before the season closes so I can fish when I'm up there.  :smt002

I may have to get crab traps stuck more often if it means a mandatory return trip! :smt044
