Wow glad you are ok Steve. I go out on private boats and always bring my own PFD, VHF and PLB. Put it on at the launch and never take it off.

Great idea - I will be doing that now, too.

Glad you and everybody came out okay Steve.  Thanks for the report.  That just reinforces my belief on think safety first before I head out in my boat.  Sorry that your friend lost his boat.

Thank god you guys are safe... That is a very scary tale, but at least your still here to tell it.  I'm with you, i'm always going to wear my PFD on a PB.

Steve, what you described sounds like a bad dream that wakes you up in the middle of the night.  I'm glad you all got out safe, and were rescued quickly.

Scary story and so glad no one was hurt.

!  PFDs are like a seat belt.  There is no good time to not wear one.  Accidents are just that...unplanned!

I almost always wear one on my skiff and its amazing to see peoples face...they look at you like you're a weirdo.  When I'm not wearing one my girls give me the death stare and I remember to put it on.  :smt044

So be weird!  Wear that PFD!

Wow!  Glad you and your buddies are here to share your story.  The lost crabbers during the crab opener at Bodega Bay this year should have been wearing their PFD's and would probably still be here if they had .  I always wear mine on my Whaler and it's suppose to be unsinkable, but I remember times not wearing one on my dad's 23 footer.  I guess the bigger the boat people figure the less likely it is to go down.

Good everyone's okay There're reasons those nonagenarians become nonagenarians, a lot of younger people might've took it worse

So be weird!  Wear that PFD!

Hereby nominate that for quote of the month

I was on and off them for a long time thinking you're okay w farmer johns, some days they're too hot blah blah Watching a guy in northside slop in a full wetsuit having serious trouble keeping his face above water made an impression

PS get a good salvage person on the boat, there's a guy out of Sausalito who's good, I think business is Parker Diving Service, has been at it a long time and well equipped. I salvaged a boat same size once never knew what happened to the people on board
Well said. Weird > Dead.

wow...glad to hear you guys are ok. I know its a pessimistic way at look at things but "plan for the worst, hope for the best" is my mentality when I get on the water. Always have a plan "B", no matter what. Thanks for sharing.
