Yep, made the switch to Astound.  Time will tell about the reliability, but Uverse has been craptacular lately, and they couldn't even come close to the pricing and features Astound has.

If you don't see a bitching and moaning post about Astound in the next month or two, consider it to be all good :smt005

Why is the upload speed so slow?   My Xfinity download speed is as high as 50 MBPS and the upload is always at least 10 MBPS.

*shrug* it is what it is.  Download speeds ( video streaming etc) is much more important to me than upload speeds.  Besides, I was coming from 25 down, and 1.5 up, so this is a MAJOR improvement.

Nope, the technician brought in a fresh line to the house.  All new everything hopefully = reliable.

Sounds fishy....  Ha!
Try any other speed test sites and see if you get the same results.  I would suspect Astound would tell you that you have that speed since you are their customer, but try this speed test site for a comparison;

http://speedtest.comcast.net/

I have comcast/xfinity and pay for 50m and tests at 48m.  So I tried AT&T site;

http://www.att.com/speedtest/

I also got 48m there too, so I can be pretty sure of what I am getting.  I do notice that Astound will not let anyone other than their customers do speed tests from their site.  I can't anyway....

My Xfinity speed test for this wifi computer is 15.27 mbps download, 6.06 mbps upload. Speed results for the computer directly connnected to the router is 33.15 mbps, 6.05 mbps. My cable connection wires are strung beneath the house. Not crazy about installing new lines that would be strung inside. Stringing in the attic might be an option. Will wait to see if Jon  starts screaming about his service.  :smt003  :smt044 :smt044

Ookla gave me 32mbps download and 12mbps upload to a local bay area site.

Then I tested to Wellington, New Zealand where my son lives.  (I skype him a lot) and got 26mbps down and 12 up.

I do remember years ago when @Home gave outrageous upload/download speeds which were accompanied by packet errors that sometimes rendered the upload or download item somewhat unreliable. Not sure if it would be the same with Astound.
