Looks like it just got reported.
I'm sure more info will come later on.
Always sad when something like this happens.
Wonder how much this came into play?

TODAY  NW WINDS 5 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 1 TO 3 FT. NW SWELL 9 TO  11 FT AT 13 SECONDS. CHANCE OF SHOWERS LATE IN THE MORNING...THEN  SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON.

That is an ugly forecast for the crab opener.
Sad when people see a few crab as more important than their safety.
I heard that it happened near seal rock, it can get especially nasty right there

Was out there today at Doran and you could not ask for a better day yak crabbing.
The seal rock location was a different story though.   Swells coming NW created huuuuuge breakers which probably cause boat to tip.  Coast Guard boats, helicopters, and private boat all over trying to help.  Did not look good. :smt012

Ocean was calm n barely any wind.  Forecast of rain and wind was off.  The swell coming NW was on though.  Huge break would push up out of the left and right side of seal rock.

Sad news. What a terrible way to start off the season. Thoughts go out to the families.

So sad.  I knew a couple commercial guys that died on crab boat and the families just don't understand the need to get out there.  The weather did not look to bad so not sure what happened.  I will pray for their families.  Glad one survived at least he will be able to give more details on what happened.

Yep, people forcing it, instead of being smart and waiting for more favorable conditions. "Gotta get them crab, it's opening day!"
We went hunting instead, there will be better days for crabbing.

No need to speculate. For all we know their motor died and they drifted into the washing mashing by seal rock.

Word around the camp was that it was an adult and four kids. We saw the lone survivor get plucked from the top of the rock.

I left shortly after because the whole thing just kinda bummed me out...

Not speculating, today was not a good day to be out, when shit happens on a day like this, people die. And to not wear pfds, well, we all know. Sad day.

85 years old. Excellent way to go. Much superior to laying in a bed with shit in your pants.
