Just to be clear, we can't compete in this if we have a Mark 4? :smt010
We can loan you an Elite 4 or 5 model that will use your existing transducer/power & bracket for the event as part of the Demo.  I'll place one on hold for you.

Just to clarify for everyone wanting to enter.  The list of compatible models are:

Elite 7 HDI
Elite 7 CHIRP
Elite 5 HDI
Elite 5 CHIRP
Elite 4 HDI
Mark 4 HDI (thanks johnrice for input on that; it's not listed on the Insight Genesis info page)
HDS Gen2 & HDS Gen2 Touch

The regular (older) Elite 5 model does not work with this program.

The Mark 4 HDI, Elite 4 HDI & Elite 5 HDI or CHIRP models all use the same power cable & transducer & mounting bracket so people who want to try the Elite % HDI & you already have the Mark 4 HDI or Elite 4 HDI model will be a simple swap of the head.  The Elite 7 HDI & Elite 7 CHIRP uses the same power cable & transducer as the Elite 4/5 HDI unit BUT has a different mounting bracket.

Lastly ...  You MUST have Version 4.0 or later software loaded on your unit listed above.  This is a FREE download.  Here's a link on how to get 'er done.  Only takes a few minutes.  I'll try & bring the update card with me but I'll be quite busy so try & do it before you come, please.

For those who want to DEMO, the older Elite 5 head unit is compatible with the older Mark 4 & Elite 4 power/transducer cable [black one; Uni-Plug] but is NOT compatible with the Insight Genesis recording thus not eligible to compete in the contest.

Here's a link/video about 'Insight Genesis', what it is, how it works, etc...

Good question ...  I BELIEVE the Mark 4 HDI works with Insight Genesis.  I don't have one myself to test.  Just tried an older Elite 5, Mark 4 & Elite DSI unit as a 'no-go'.  I got that list of compatible units off the Insight Genesis web site.

Easiest way to see if you can is:

From the FF Page, Press Menu 1 time.  Scroll down & see if there is a 'Log Sonar' tab.  If you have that ... you should be good to go!!!!

It has to be an HDI edition to work.

There was a question earlier about power consumption on the Elite 4/5 units as well as Elite 7 HDI.  Here's the results I personally got:

Elite 5 (not HDI) consumed ~750mA (3/4 amps/hour) with full briteness & everything running.  That was the peak I could get it to consume.

Elite 7 HDI with full screen briteness & both down-scan & broadband & GPS running AND sonar recording I got it to peak out ~810mA (just over 3/4 amps/hour).

Hope this answers the questions!

Update to the Amperage draw ...

I took the unit & placed it in 'Standby' Mode (Press power button 1x & select standby)  This dropped the consumption down to ~160mA (.16 amps/hour).  Press any button & the unit instantly comes alive again.

The blank chips for the contest have arrived!  We are in countdown mode for LRC1 ~ Anchor Bay!!!!!

The benefits for this are great.  All you need is a Lowrance Mark/Elite HDI or CHIRP unit to compete in this part of the contest.  You'll receive a FREE detailed map of the area PLUS be netered for a chance to win 1 of 3 great Lowrance prizes!!!

   Not sure?  Sign-up that morning!

   Easy to do:

1)  Plug in the blank MicroSD card to your unit.
2)  From the FF page, Press Menu 1 time & highlight 'Log Sonar' then press 'Enter' button
3)  Highlight 'Start' in the Log Sonar menu & press Enter.  You should see a red dot flashing to indicate it is recording.
4)  Every hour or so, do the same steps to 'Stop' recording & do the same step to 'Start' recording again....  Why?  It's better to keep the file sizes smaller & easier for us to upload.
5)  Once recording, just paddle & fish!

Winners will be based on the largest total file sizes combined.  What makes one file size larger than another?  AREA COVERED!  The more area you cover, the larger the file & the larger the map coverage of that area!!!!

Questions?  Come see me Friday or EARLY Saturday morning.  I'll be handing out the blank cards THAT MORNING at the check-in station!

Come compete, win prizes & all that just for paddling & fishing?!?!?!?!   :smt007

I just did this last night. Copy it to your sd card then insert the card into you FF turn on and it will automatically update. When it is complete it will tell you to remove sd card. Leave FF on remove card and FF will automatically turn off. The update is complete.

I then removed the update from the sd card.

Thanks Rider , that's what I thought.

New question, can I look at my current battery voltage ? if so, where ?
