Ive had this nice Lami for about 3 seasons now. Ive used the hell out of this rod and really like it. Unfortunately the guides are pretty flimsy and are easily bent out of place.  The ceramic rings have broken out of three of them.  I would love to pay somebody to replace all of the guides. Any rod repairmen out there?

'the compass' tackler shop in seaside sells guides...he has a tackle box with various sizes  and styles ...dirt cheap too...best selection Ive seen....

you can very lightly run an exacto knife...sheet rock razor knife...with a new blade....very lighty trace the bump the guides base/cleet makes under the existing original epoxy and thread wrap...then deeper each pass, and the guide will lift right out...leaving a small bed in the old winding....set the replacement guide in that slot...blue tape one side so it is straight and held in place.....mix some clear 5 minute fast setting epoxy...any hardware store clear two part tubes....and put it on with an old chop stick...put a small drop on the exposed cleet side...then wrap it with power pro braid...not much is needed...than wipe more epoxy over the braid...wait till its almost set and smooth it...do the other side...super easy and works awesome..takes about 10-15 minutes to replace multiple eyes...and 30 minutes later they are shiny clear glass...never know they were done....nothing  that will win a  pro rod show...but fishing again with a favorite rod.....super easy

same thing for broken in half rods..put a thin insert and slide the two halves of the broken rod together over the insert...wrap with power pro and epoxy.....do it a few times...from trash to loaner...back up rod

caught lings with it and no issues so far

put the rod but between your feet ..sitting in a chair --and spin the braid on by using one palm to rotate the rod between your feet

it is so easy...I dont even peel the old thread off...cut the base out...set the new one in the indent of the old one on a gob of epoxy...squish it in the blob till seated..tape one side....wrap and coat with epoxy...5  minutes

I have gut off my guides then used some strong thread. I wrap the guide in tightly and use clear nail polish to water proof the thread. You can buy guides from a company called Mud Hole.  try WWW:MUDHOLE.COM

Man I had that same rod and LOVED it!!!  But alas it's at the bottom of Monterey Bay due to my AI Sail line lifting it out of my rod holder and into the drink.... :smt009

I think Angler's choice does custom rods, or has someone they farm them to.

MudHole.com is the place. They will talk you though the purchase over the phone if you go the DIY route.
