I'll be seeing everyone there by 5:30 (I hope).  Bringing tackle & 3 rod/reel setups (and a few spare reels).  I'm sure if someone runs out of tackle, there will be enough of us to cover as needed with a weight or fly-rig or whatnot.  Weather does look good!!!!   :smt007

   No speargun Jim!  :smt002

You guys should consider taking your own boxes of squid. I don't like fishing with the little chicken shit strips they provide. I like to use one whole squid on each jig. Just my 2cents. Im stoked for you guys, I should have got on...

it's cheap..i'll get us a some bags of fresh squid and bring them, pass em out we can space em along the group.....chances are we will be using a the same one rod and shrimp fly and weight all day
and all the extra stuff is just for looks and to help us spill our coffee on our pants carrying too much stuff.....

I did get hungry every time I went out (says the huge fat guy) so make sure to bring a few quick to eat things like ham& cheese  sandwiches and snack bars...waters

but like my brother used to say there is a sandwich in every can....

Ran by & visited my favorite lady @ Fishermans Choice in Capitola @ lunch time.  Stocked up on another 1/2 dozen shrimp fly rigs in case others need some, a few extra weights, jig heads & another handful of assorted 4"-6-1/2" BH swimbaits.  Going to re-spool the reels tonight!

Good times!!!!!  :smt003

Awesome!

I'm gonna try and swing by tomorrow AM and get a few goodies as well.

Wife informed me today that Jayme was not going to be coming.  :smt010

Apparently, time with Grandma trumps time fishing with Dad?!??  :smt011

Let's just say I was not happy... :smt013

But...still taking Valentina and will being her 14 year old cousin Eduardo instead of Jayme. Eduardo is a good kid who I have taken fishing before on a skiff, and he loves crabbing off the docks at Albion and is super excited about coming out. He can also help me carry stuff and help keep an eye on Valentina.

 :smt001

You guys bringing a small cooler for drinks etc? Debating between small hard sider cooler or smaller soft sided one...for the three of us, probably the hard sided one...soft sided one leaks as ice melts too.

Fired up!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

16+ for license.

I'm bringing two small backpacks with food/drink/bulky fishing items.  (2) 5-gallon buckets & 1 burlap sac.  Leaving the cooler in the truck will we return I think.

this Friday the 7thon Chris's intel report...for the group outing this Sunday the 9th:::

Chris's had us stop off the aquarium and sabiki jig makerel and squid and few a dabs....then took us to deep water off carmel bay and cypress pt to fish for ling and rock fish
lings were thick and all over the deck on out first stop!!
My buddy pulled a really nice one ---first fish of the day and big ole ling...burnt toast 9" hammer on a 4 oz head...he was saying the whole time...this aint enough weight over and over as our lines went angled with everyone else and the boat rocked and drifted...then BAM!!! after that it was folks bending rods and calling for gaff....

later we switched to smaller squid strips on shrimp fly's....seeing as we had 40+ lings on the deck and in bags... :smt007

then after rockfish limits were close we switched over off pt pinos and the captain worked with few guys brining really nice big crabs up...the first pot was packed like a N.Y subway

great day...I got nice whole squid for everyone on sunday and  want to let folks know to get few heavy weights from the desk when you check in...like 8-10 oz eggs...they will tell us what they are using at the desk...I used some swim bait with teaser top hook rigs...guys were casting ling bars and diamond jigs away from the drift off the front of the boat..to let them sink with out catching the green horns etc....shrimp fly with a heavy sinker...big jig heads and swimbaits..simple..I did not loose any gear all day..sabiki too...we did get tangled a few times but not bad....quick few pics...

just a heads up..they made an announcement over the p.a while we were all lined up to board..."new rule no coolers allowed on the boat, all coolers must be left on the dock...if you have anything valuable in them bring it aboard"....lot of grumbling and folks try to slide their coolers under benches or behind the cleaning table....I did not brong one ,but many did...and were like WTF

so...no coolers...but they were all there when we got back and they have ice to shovel em full...your call

yes...bring a bucket ..they sell burlap bags cheap...bring some rope or shoe laces..some old heavy twine and a knife...you can tie off your back pack-burlap- and stuff to pole railings and ledgers where the rod snap in...gets your pack and bag off the bloody wet deck...the knife and thin gloves and my buddies pliers were busy and well used when the fish were flying on the decks and tangles...was able to cut the tangle right at the swivel in a snap...save the rig and slide the the tangles free...and then re-tie the stuff...instead of try and weave it  and unwind etc..
knife ...thin gloves--heavy twine---5 gal bucket....maybe some pliers/cutters

you can bring a rolling cooler and leave it tucked on the dock...safe..just not on board...i did see a few guys with small coolers later as we off loaded..no one said anything as the got on board I guess
