Hi Triangleleguna,
How can I get in on this? Would love to go out on the opener. Never mooched before but I'd be down to give it a try.
It would be $80 each correct? How would payment work out?
Let me know if getting on the list is possible, If not its all good.  :smt001
Thanks,

GS

your in

i was thinking I would have folks p.m when it got closer and I give them an exact breakdown but yes around or less for opening day sat the 4th of april 2015 ...your on the list ...we are at 16 now...19...fills it with self pay overflow to 25...funky but that is how they explained it...25 is not too many though...they had 54 salmon by early for quite a few days this april

everyone gets paid on different days so however folks want to pay me as it gets closer..when i get few hundred in my desk i can pay chunks of the 1500 off...they said that is fine..or just pay it that day...140+ days to figure it out

Just wondering. Is 6 years old too young for this trip?

That is a choice for you but @ 6, it may be hard'er for him/her to hold the rod over the rail & with a running salmon, the key lies in the ability to keep tension on the fish with a circle hook.

I've been asking myself the same question for my 9year old since she hasn't hit a growth spurt yet so I think I'm booking a combo crab/sand dab trip for her come early next year in an effort to get her feet wet in fishing and the motion of the ocean.

no but close...they ask for 7...but the captain does not  trip..he makes the kids the high point of the trip imo...he knows...they are gonna remember that day forever...younger than six might be dangerous

Thinking early January.  This will be a weather dependent trip for her.  She's not as outgoing as Haylee but she really wants to go now that her bigger sister went.  I thought the "dabs & crabs" combo would give her a taste of the sea with lots of small fish action from the dabs.  I would have liked to do it before Christmas but it looks like they don't run dabs & crabs will after RF closes.  Unless he would give us a deal on a small boat load?  Craig, you wanna check with him on this?  I might be able to get down on 3-6 people for it.

Well I wasn't thinking that they would do much unassisted fishing. I was thinking they would just come along for the ride and watch everyone. Maybe "help" us hold the rod for fun. But yeah might be too young...

I think 6 is their ideal starter range to be on the boat.  I've waited till now to start my kids off on SW fishing just because I wanted them to be able to be somewhat independent.  Nothing wrong with 6, he/she might need that extra parental hand in making it happen!

the saving grace is that it is a nor cal kayak un- offical ..charter group...we can let a kid watch if we want and Tom will hand them a pole and make em catch one just to show he can.....the one thing... :smt044... is that all the captains on the bay are in communication and tommy likes to be on the radio saying "just tossed another nice one on-4 more to go"..while other captains are going in circles or trying to follow tommy at a respectful distance....when he gets revved up to land  fish.... and someone is screwing around or not following directions..or even someone next to them does not reel up in time when told and a tangle happens to the guy with a huge salmon right at the net..and lost fish...and a 200$ salmon swims away..he gets..well...he gets colorful...

kids rock...no doubt...but folks want to go home with 2 big salmon a piece and that tkaes focused team work and fun....kids can come of course...may be some big words   :smt013 being used though..

Nice job Craig. Looks like fun. I used to take my kids out on party boats when they were young. I usually fish the opener with Etienne. Never caught a fish but always a good time.  :smt005  It can be kind of snotty out there on opening day. If you don't have enough people, send me a PM.
