The Fred Hall Show is probably the best annual consumer fishing show in California.  Kayak fishing has been a big attraction in the Southern California shows.

NCKA will be working with the producers of the show to create 4-day kayak fishing program for the February 2007 show at the San Francisco Cow Palace.  It will include seminars, demos, and perhaps our own kayak fishing theather.  Much depends on what and how much we can put on the agenda.  We'll also have our own show booth.

Currently, we're open for ideas, so let me know what guys want to see.... and be creative!

We could have a boat set up in front of a dsiplay panel and guests could cast a line over the panel and "hook" into a prize.  Maybe just for kids?

Maybe even SELL$$$ NCKA caps or shirts?

Pictures of the tournament winners?

Offer a trifold, with NCKA logo, about kayak angling with one or two good launches for each county listed?

One of the ideas offered by the show's producer is to raffle off a fully rigged kayak - complete with rods, reels, rod holders, fish finder, etc.

This is almost a sure thing with all the tackle mfrs there at the show.

If they decide to let you throw a yak in the demo tank full of bass I will be more than willing to represent ncka in that presentation :smt002

scrapbooks, pics and posters of:
1. get togethers, camp outs, bbq's, organized trips......to let people know that its more than just taking fish
2. a map of popular spots and remote areas that boats usually don't go
3.pics of monster sized fish
4. pics highlighting the adventure side of things like paddling around the cliffs in big sur, kinda challenging, and serene stuff like cruising the lake.
5 pics of alternative paddling outings, to let people know their kayak is good for other things.....I still think we need a yak olympics with surfing, racing and chicken fights :smt003
6. vacations and socal hook ups/excursions

And cater to the audience with it....show families the camping, hardcore fishermen the pics and maps of places they've never been.

Also have the laptop there so people can register with ncka, offer discounts on guided trips/gear (if posssible), video always catches my eye and could be a big part in getting people to stop and rap about it, maybe have a special "hook up day" where we can get everybody to volunteer extra gear to offer newbs a free day of paddling.

Oh, yeah.  Randy's picture of the swell and cloud cover in Carmel Bay that time should be in the adventure part.

How about a presentation, prepared by Ed, Sean, Eldore, Stuart and other parent types on introducing kids to kayak angling?

How about a demo on kayak rigging basics (fishfinders, rodholders, etc.)...  to take the edge off of the stress of drilling that first hole in a perfectly good boat.

Could probably get Scotty or RAM to sponsor something like that you would think...

Maybe just an overall talk about accessories, what to look for, what to avoid, how to install and use, how to build stuff like carts, bait tanks, etc.

I'm in for the Sturgeon Seminar... If we have a theater/projector I'll powerpoint the whole thing for better visuals.

How about videos of kayak isherman in action (like the Marlin video) , so people can see what kayak anglers are capable of. Maybe even have the Instrutional Kayak Fishing Video playing. If you guys need volunteers, I'm willing to help.

I could put together a river salmon fishing seminar. I'll do my best to get some footage this weekend when I land a monster hen.

I volunteer to walk the floor and talk to the vendors that are stuck in the booth all day with not a lot of chances to check out the NCKA booth.  It's what I usually do at trade shows anyway for me real job!
