Brian, The last time I was at the Dredger holes (between 160 and Cal expo) the water was slow enough to easily paddle back up to do another drift over the holes. I'm bringing an anchor just in case I want to stop to work the area.

I should read the regs again too...I think if the lure is over 1oz, it must have a single hook on it. I swap out the trebles for singles on my Gibbs. The k14 type kwikfish or flatfish lures are ok with trebles.
I plan to fish simple, Taking some gibbs minnows to jig, a few k14 and wire spreaders to troll. Bring some 1 and 2oz weights. Might try a silvertron spinner too. A three way swivel will work in place of the wire spreader.

Someone needs a big net to help me land the big one :smt002 :smt003

I'm debating about trying to make it for the drift. I promised the little lady that I would take her little cousin fishing so I might have to break out the klamath for this trip. Are there any major obstructions that are in the water currently?

Brian, If you have a motor, you could launch at Disco and head upriver towards Cal Expo. That should be clear.

Update: the guys on the sniffer board say you should be ok.

Maps to ramp locations:

Launch at the Howe Ave ramp. It is actually off of La Riviera Drive.
Hwy 50 to Howe ave north, exit at La Riviera.

We will finish at Discovery park. There are two ramps at Disco, the main ramp on the Sac, and a smaller car-top ramp under the Jaboom st bridge. The Jabboom ramp doesn't have parking for trailers so it's good for kayaks, less boating pressure.

Take I5 to Richards Blvd west. Jibboom st north. Take the first right after the ticket booth down to the kayak ramp, or follow Jibboom bridge over the river to access the busy main ramp.

Hope my links work ok. :smt002

I'd like to launch around 7:30ish. Looks like some folks like K.James have a drive to get here.

I measured the route. Close to 7.6 miles.

I can't make this one, but I'm dying to hit the delta for salmon.

Hope you have a great time, I'll be waiting for the report.

Hey Al,

You are the master with the google maps and GPS.

What would you say is the best route between the Howe launch site and Discovery Park?  Seeing how this thread is is going, I think that we may have a decent turn out and that there may be several vehicle retieval runs.  My guess would be that the easiest and fastest route would be to head south form the Howe bridge to east on HWY 50, then North on Hwy 5 to discovery park.  Is this the easiest route for us out of towner's?  Also, say we had a yak loaded less than ideally, would the Arden way to Howe route be practical?

Thanks for all of the help everyone.  The last time I was on Howe ave was for a bachelor party ten years ago and the details are a bit fuzzy.
