I did my first ride after my crash (off the trainer) yesterday, whopping 8 miles!
Legs felt good shoulder not so much. Should get my replacement road frame, next week or so, so will be ready for this group rides by end of month I'd hope.

I've been looking around.

Where was that Martin.  The Performance shop here in Mountain View is remodeling and doesn't seem to have much inventory.

Campbell. But that frame was a large, too big. However you can have any store call around and find a small medium for u. They ship to store free. That's a solid deal for a carbon bike

The search is over.  Over the past few days I visited several bike shops in the area.

Today I went to Performance in Campbell....they had about 20 customers in the store and 1 sales man on the floor.

After that, I decided to give up the search for a while and focus on finding a BMX for Omar.  Fast Bicycles in San Jose was closed so we went to the Mikes Bikes in Willow Glen.

I was talking to the sales man and he showed me the Raleigh Revenio. He said it was a good bike for the price ($799).  He also showed me the Revenio 3.0 which was a nicer bike but I couldn't convince myself to pay $1299 for it so I left the store and figured I'd come back another day if I didn't find anything else.

While having lunch I decided to check the Mikes Bikes web site and seen the bike listed on sale for $999.  After lunch we walked back to the store and asked if it was $999...he said that if that's what it showed on the web then yes...he apparently wasn't aware that it was on sale.  So I decided to take it (after a test ride)...and before I allowed myself to consider the buyers remorse.

So yeah, now I'm one of "them"   :smt013  Not long ago I was one of those guys trying to take a peaceful drive over to the coast on Highway 84 only to end up fuming about those jackass road bikers taking up the road....so how about a warm welcome for me to the Jackass club.   :smt003

The last time I was on a road bike they weren't called "road bikes" (they were 10 speeds), the shifters were properly located on the down tube, and there was a second lever for the brakes.

Riding it feels a little weird, I'm used to the mountain bike, but I'll get used to it after some saddle time.

I haven't gone off to buy the fancy peddles yet...maybe after a few rides.  I do plan on buying some relaxed biker shorts ....maybe I'll buy a jersey once I find one I like.

Hopefully I'll find time to take a few short rides over the next few days.  I'm hoping to find some time over the weekend to take an exploratory ride from Mountain View (home) to Foster City (work)...if it's not too bad of a ride maybe I'll ride in to work on Fridays.  It's not a very well thought out plan yet but I'm thinking I can ride into work and then ride Caltrain on the way back home...or vice versa.  Now that Omar is a bit older and able to handle himself a bit better I don't have to worry so much about being home so early.

Let me know when the group ride is...if it's something I can hang with I'll try to be there.

Remember, if you see a fat boy on a blue bike struggling to get up the hill while you're on your way out to the SMC it'll probably be me....have some pity, maybe shout out some words of encouragement and if you can spare it....toss me a twinkie....err, I mean a power bar.

Man welcome to the club. I was one of those guys that fumed at the stupid bikers to get off the road as I had to wait behind them with boat in tow. Now I wear those tight spandies and goes for coffee mid ride   But down the suds after we get back. We can find new rides flat and some with medium climbs to all climbs that kick your ass and make you look like a drueling camel when you get to the top of the hill

Don't know what size you are, but I have tons of clothing that is "extra"... Most of it mostly new stuff that I never really wear...

I'm a choosy chooser now.

Thank you all for the info and for the gear offers.  It's very nice of you.  I might take you up on some if the offers.

I logged the first 10 just a bit ago.  I'm not afraid to say that I was one with the bike... That might be because the seat was doing its damage.  Even compared to the MTB there is very little padding.  I might have to buy those shorts sooner than I thought.

So far no buyers remorse so I think I'm good.

You have to get fitted bro. It'll make a huge difference. Shorts are big too. Get some ASAP.  Now that you got a trainer and road bike, let's get you dialed in.

And don't worry about the perineal insult - u already got a kid lol

I think a fitting is $50 at mikes bikes.  Is it worth it?

I've been racing road bikes for 25 years.  Yeah, pay the money & get fit properly by a shop.
You'll be glad you did.
