Can you guys recommend some affordable landing nets that would work well for fishing salmon? I want to purchase a net before getting on the sac/american rivers. Thanks.

A big hoop and a sturdy, short, fixed handle. That be mine.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I got big hoop short handle for a $1 at a garage sale. Net was too shallow for salmon ( had a homemade knitted net ) so bought a new net for $16 at Castro Valley Sport ( Frabil wanted $36 and they were out of stock online) now I have big hoop net that is 42" deep.

Check out Cummings nets. I have had mine for years and its definitely has landed its fair share of Salmon. They are light, compact, and really robust!

Every time I go into a local thrift store I see BIG salmon sized nets for $5 or less.  It's a great way to support a good cause and get an inexpensive net.

I really like my Lininger heavy duty salmon net...made in Hayward CA. Bought it at Outdoor World for $35.

I was gifted a Lininger and absolutely love it. Used Frabils in the past until I forgot my paddle at sws and attempted to use the net. It worked great until the end of the pier and promptly broke completely. I have no doubt the Lininger would stand up to paddle use.

Also, I popped off the handle and stuffed it full of pool noodle...then put the handle back on. Now it floats!
