So I bought this Hobie Revo used from Adventure Kayak, out of warranty.  Worked fine, but this season it's taking water, I mean like 4 gallons of water.  It started after a road trip to Eureka last fall the yak was strapped down sit on top side up and shows it from the flattened bottom.  Do you think I cracked it somewhere?  I replaced the drain plug and replaced the center hatch (the hatch hole is now warped so the hatch isn't secure), also my front top gasket is messed up and doesn't seal 100%...none the less those hatch areas shouldn't account for that much water in the boat  IMO...thoughts??

Check your drive well for cracks.

Yeah, what Krusty said.  The hobie forums also mention checking the scupper holes in addition to the drive well.

it's most likely the damn twist and stow hatch gasket. my new 2014 takes in like a gallon of water when i take it out.

Not saying that it isn't the drive well, but the Revo came out in '07 or '08 which was after the drive well fiasco.  Believe that was 2006.

I need to do this exact thing.  My '07 Adventure is taking on some water.  :smt010  :smt009

Flush mount rod holders are another source. Both are open on the ends on my Prowler 15, and have always been open, and take on water when waves hit me. Hasn't ever been a problem, but I could see in a bad day, it could be, a bad day!

The flush-mount holders are molded into Hobies :-)
Sounds like a mystery crack, because like you said...that's too much water to be seeping in through a faulty hatch seal etc.

If its an older model 2008 or so with twist drive. Then I can bet that the drive well is cracked along the weld. Contact hobbie . They are aware of this problem. They replaced my 2008 ai for 400$  or so. This is a common problem . Almost everyone I know with older model has this problem.

It's pretty amazing how much water a small leak can let in over several hours on the water.  I lost my P15's small 6" screw -in- hatch lid on the road (even before that, I'd get a cup or two of water inside) and I replaced it with a twist and lock hatch and ring for the hole.  The ring had a rubber gasket and a bunch of screws around the outside.  I thought that would be plenty to make it watertight, but the first trip out, my boat was about 1/4 full of water, affecting the balance, after about 5 hours on the water.  It turned out that the water was leaking right where the rubber gasket was around the ring - the screws were tight.  I took the whole ring and gasket out and Gooped the gasket on both sides and screwed the ring back on, and it hasn't leaked a drop since.
That hatch sits low enough that water can slosh over it - once it got a few gallons inside, it was constantly beneath the water level in the top of the yak, so naturally, the water was flowing in all the time.
It took the reverse vacuum cleaner soapy water trick to find out where the leak was - but in the process, I got new confidence in the amount of solid plastic around the scupper holes, which is what I had blamed the original leaking on until I found the hatch problem.  I had tried using a light on a pole in a darkened garage before the soapy water thing - the plastic's pretty thick around the scuppers, because I couldn't see any light on the outside there, though I did discover some thin areas, though not leaks, on the top deck (where it doesn't matter).

Check inside the holes where the seat plugs into the hull.

Just replaced my 2009 Hobie Outback which was out of warranty. Replacement cost $400.  Small crack in drive well that barely leaks when tested but on the water using the peddles, the hull would fill half way up.

, rig a hose to pump air into the hull through the drain outlet. Soapy spray bottle all areas, check for bubbles.  Cue Don Ho "tiny bubbles"
