16th, I will be turning 40!! :smt006
19th, Cody will be 13.

Each year we go hunt/fish for our birthday celebration, and he has never paddled Santa Cruz, so that is what he wants. Going to hit the water at daylight, and his target species..............anything on a sabiki! He has never made bait on his kayak yet, so we will be trolling sabikis towards yellow can, and then drifting live bait for whatever may strike!
Will be off water fairly early, heading back to Lodi to my AA home group meeting @7pm. It is their "birthday night" where people are awarded their chips for years of sobriety. Just so happens, my one year of alcohol sobriety, is TODAY!!
Going to be bitter sweet, celebrating one year, on my 40th birthday.

Company very much welcome on the water, AND, at Lodi Lite that evening located at 26 Elm St. In Lodi.
Sadly, I wont be able to come back down for the Pay It Forward Paddle, my budget is a little tight, and I cant miss the AA milestone.

So if you would like to join my son and I for a birthday paddle, that would be AWESOME, and the other if you feel compelled.
Thank you.

I'll try and join, but it's PIF weekend in Monterey!  So might be heading that way with other folks, but we will see.

Thanks Scott!

Looks like the bite kinda slowed for Santa Cruz, but that is OK. I am sure we will find plenty of willing fish to bite. General Lee will be rolling on down with us for his maiden trip into the salt, and my main focus for Cody is to get him on some Mackerel and other bait fish with light tackle!

My plan is to head out and troll the sabikis out to the yellow can, fish around there for a while and then the lighthouse point, and let the wind drift us back to the harbor n head home. Pretty basic, pretty simple and relaxing.

Hella old!
 :smt044
Good luck buddy. I hope Cody gets 5 macs at a time on the sabiki...it's quite an experience...and a good test of how to not hook yourself!
I think there's been some macs roaming around the wharf in Monterey too, but have not seen them myself.

Happy Birthday Rich!   :smt035 Don't feel to bad.  Forty is not that old.  You're still a young stud.  Wait till you pass 60.   :smt003  Should be a lot of macs and jacksmelt in SC.
