lings were hitting big hammers today very nice...kept two and moved on to Cabezon and Rockfish

When I got home I was cleaning my catch and found one ling was pretty fat and felt like it had a rock fish i it's stomach...turns out it had this eel?? monkey face??? inside folded about five times...the ling was around 30" so the mystery thing looked every bit of that and some maybe...it was stinky and gross and made  a mess of my normal work towel cleaning station...it stunk bad  :smt003

what was it????

the big Cabby and fresh garden veggies is just for extra pics

Great find!  Way to document and share.  I once pulled a whole 6 pound black rockfish out of a big ling's belly.  A predator that can swallow another large fish whole is badass.

If it had long sharp teeth like a dog then it's probably a wolf eel...I just caught my first one ever 2wks ago.

the ling hit a 6 oz jig head with a luminous white/pearl 9" sledgehammer tail....

Seems this ling was still hungry...or just dont like big stuff teasing it
