So, it being almost September  :smt005 I'm planning out my 2015 artwork schedule. I've got the AOTY/DOTY on tap, as well as a couple other award-type projects in the pipline. I plan to have an open studio show in July 2015 to coincide with a new website and a renewed push to focus on the artwork.

I thought it might be interesting to throw out an open thread for some other ideas, just to see what folks might be interested in seeing.
My pieces are done on painted wood panels, and are usually modeled after Pacific Northwest house screens and burial markers. My avatar is an example of a large outdoor piece with a white shark that is 4'x8' on 2" redwood.

Currently I'm trying to work out a combination/mash up of orcas and wolves together, which was suggested by a friend. I'm also experimenting with big stencils.

Post up any ideas, descriptions are fine, nothing is too big or crazy (you should see my shed door) :smt005 It may just become a reality................

How about a tribute to the veterans of our military. Maybe something like the wounded warrior silhouettes with a kayak behind.

Hey Don, that is totally within my ability. Not exactly an art piece, BUT I'll keep it in mind & will be in touch.

I've never done a Rooster in the PNW style, I like the concept!

Oh yeah, a steelie with a fly :smt007. I did one on commission a few years ago. It is time for another incarnation.

I'm currently steering away from straight up commissions as I've got a couple in the works already. What I'd like to do is take these ideas and incorporate them into the 2015 show, making fishing (& yak fishing in particular) the focus of the pieces. Stay tuned.

Thanks guys, this is exactly what I was looking for!

How about some functional art--like a wall shelf with the pectoral fin as the shelf. Along similar lines, how about a rod rack? Or a mailbox!

thats a great idea, i would love something on those lines for displaying fishing pics, and a rod rack would be really cool in the mancave/office, cameron

This may be something better to discuss offline in more detail...

But....we all know how awesome your AOTY/DOTY plaques are... :smt007

But, traditionally we have gone with standard plaques from a company for the "big fish" plaques...

I would much rather see us get something smaller from YOU than go to an outside vendor for a "regular" plaque...

I know your work is art, and art takes more time and time is $...

But if you can think up of a way to do a smaller something or other to recognize the folks who catch/shoot the biggest fish in AOTY/DOTY I think everyone would be stoked...

Dunno...just been thinking about it for awhile...I have the $ set aside for the 1st-3rd plaques for AOTY and DOTY for you...and then $$ set aside to get the "big fish" plaques from a different company...

If we can keep it all NCKA/Piscean it would be a win/win in my book...

Curious to hear your thoughts...

Sincerely,

Jim

Yeah...but all depends really on what Sean wants to do with his time....he gives us a screaming deal on AOTY/DOTY pieces already cuz they are for NCKA and PIF related so don't want him to feel pressured to do anymore.

 :smt008

Just bugs me to give $ to someone else if an NCKA person can do it...

Kayaker bendo with a big king going aerial off the bow with the King Range and the Cove in the background.

Look to this link for an example of the depth of the Range with snow behind Etienne at the original GS:

Love your work and looking forward to seeing you possibly put some of these ideas through the process.
