Sold off all my shimano gear and switched to penn reels, guess I'll do the same and switch to seeker/gloomis/ maybe calstar.  I'm starting to lose faith in Shimano. Their  gear is always overpriced does the same job but not worth the dinero IMO.
I think g loomis is now owned by shimano.
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

We all know G Loomis is owned by Shimano. It's been stated quite a few times.

They are however still honoring their warranties currently. But truthfully those rods are pretty solid so like stated also here if not misused and abused they shouldn't break anyways.

Thank God I have another pair of trevala in case one breaks on me while fishing. Seriously though, they are great rods. I'm sure you'll have your rod replaced by Shimano. I hear they have top notch customer service.

I have had only one rod break on me many years ago right at the Hypalon grip. It was a cheapo rod but served me well for many years.

Damn! I hope I didn't jinx myself on my upcoming long range trip.  :smt044 :smt010 :smt044

not my thread-but the response..."you guys breaking rods"---with the un asked for advice -cracks me up...
I've fished my whole life and the rod folded under less than normal loads...but thanks for knowing it was my fault.....some days this place is ripe

on a happy note---it was mentioned in this thread that lamiglas can be tough to deal with, i just got of the phone and the gal was great!!!!!!
going to mail my rod and 20 bucks and get a new one back.
seems to good too be true  :smt003

just sent Penn a fierce 5000 spinning reel two weeks back----2 years old and the guts got cranky season one-then crunchy months back-then stopped working all together the next day----Penn said "send it in in bag and dont even put it back together"
They did not charge me a dime and sent the reel after their techs rebuilt it---butter smooth now  :smt001 :smt001

In spring I sent a 1-1/2 year old spheros 5000 to shimano for ongoing problems I'd been having---they sent me a new one-no receipt this time  either---took 3 weeks and 25 bucks---but the new reel is TITS!!!!  :smt007

I also sent a brand new Pentax WG#-3 that my beagle ate to try and get at my perch pictures-smelled em inside I guess
Took a LONG time and many phone calls---brand new Pentax WG-4 in the color of my choice --kawi green  :smt044

just wanted to relay some happy endings -kind of related to this thread.
