NCKA - My thoughts

Great post Ed, I too posted something like this, and it was the same feeling, NCKA was, is like a family. My first time meeting some fellow bothers was Black Butte Lake, I met so many people and tried to remember all the names but I couldn't, so a made a list when I got home, Didn't help!!!!
Then came GS8, talk about memory overload, but I met some of the best people that I know there.
Eric hit the nail on the head at the awards ceremony, " how many people did you meet that you felt like you already knew" for me it was a bunch. I know in our small but growing group up here the North Valley Slayers are a great group of friends, I spend more time with them than my old friends.
I know part of that is this Damn Kayak thing just takes over your life, my old friends just don't get it.
What was cool for me was at GS8 my wife after the potluck said, "I see why you always say this feels like family, everyone here is respectful, nice, and so willing to help if anyone needs it." We have belonged to a few other clubs, but none of them hold a candle to NCKA. I am always trying to explain NCKA to other people, and I always end with it is just a big Family.

 I was greeted by this MEXICAN GANGSTER that recently got engaged and I quickly saw that this guy, though looking rather tough on the exterior, was a softy and truly knows what matters... his family.

Ehhh, NCKA is alright, I guess...

 

The NCKA is not just an online website, it is family. At any hook up even total strangers are welcomed like brothers. We hold nothing back from one another and we always have fun; plus all the damn food we bring at all the GTG's. Man if I was still around, I'd be one fat Flip!! Even being here in Texas I miss all of you, there is nothing like the bunch of crazies like you all here. I will cherish all my memories I had with my adventures and outings and  helping my brothers with HOW.

Tight lines to y'all and if any of you ever come to Texas look me or Uncle Billy up.
