Id do 50# braid or 30#braid with a top shot of 30# mono
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I'd go braid for vertical jigging, say for lings & RF

I use 30# powerpro, and put a rod length piece of 30# mono leader at the end with a uni-to-uni, 10/6 wraps braid/mono

30# seems to be the best for me in terms of heavy enough for what I (hope to) catch, and easy enough to break off if snagged

30lb braid if you plan to do some casting; 50lb braid if you plan to jig vertically. I'd go 30lb because it's more versatile...in case you want to use it for bass, stripers, catfish, etc.

for you guys using Equal strength Braid and Mono...  does it always break at the knot or below?

My first year using braid and I went with 40# braid cuz I figured it would suck if it broke off above the knot!

should have looked in the box before i typed this ....my wife had 50# Braid on it , she went to Outdoor Pro shop in Rohnert Park and they recommended 50#  overkill maybe ? with a Mono leader .....the receipt says PP Green 50#( POWER PRO ? )not sure the # on the leader  it`s not on the receipt ....hope they didn't goose her
yes 50# power pro and the mono is either big game or ande then again it might be suffix especially if the line is clear.50# not over kill especially if your gonna fish  different depth ranges and chuck heavy lead.I like using 50# cause I have an overkill hook set.my old coworker use to say im snapping line cause I "jank it too hard"he's from panama

tends to break after the knot on the flourocarbon leader or mono . Run a GT knot and super glue the knot. It's a good knot to learn when you run out of barrel swivels.
