vin you can try my outback if you'd like. we can meet up at one of the east bay lakes.

i'm like 170 so i don't know if i'm the best reference point for stability but it's super stable to me. i can stand on it on flat water...

I think the big question is, what are you looking to do with the Outback?  If you're just fishing, I think you're well within the specs of what the Outback can handle whether it's salt or fresh.  There are other boats that might be able to do it faster, but from a stability standpoint, it's pretty solid.

If you're planning on doing some type of expedition camping with lots of gear, then a different boat might be more appropriate, perhaps even a tandem.

California Canoe & Kayak at Jack London Square in Oakland is a great place to try one out for yourself. They also have the Adventure 16 to demo and the Pro Angler.

Going to the Pro Angler often means investing in a kayak trailer as well as part of the cost of ownership and limiting where you are able to launch.

At 275 and adding 15-20 lbs. for gear you have a 25% reserve capacity and buoyancy should not be a problem. Most likely you will want to upgrade to the turbo fins.

My wife and I drove to California Canoe from Monterey so we could demo the Outback and the Revo 13. It was well worth the effort and we bought two Revo's which we will be picking up in July from the store.

Great people at this locally owned and operated business. Very different experience than what we experienced with Kayak Connection in Santa Cruz.

I preferred the handling of the Revo 13, but I would not hesitate to take the Outback out into the ocean.

awesome.. thanks all. it will just be for fishing. im not in any shape to win any speed tournaments. i just dont want to flip over. im thinking of getting the outrigger system to go with it just for the sake of stability. im off balance as it is. lol. thanks again

The 14' Pro Angler is 38" wide as opposed to the Outback which is 33" wide.  The difference is very noticeable in the seating area.  Also the PA seat you sit on instead of down in like the OB.  I would say try both and see what you like.

You might also consider the 12' Hobie Pro Angler.  It is 36" wide.

we shall see once the money issues get resolved ill try them both out. as i like that the 12 and 14 have a spot for rod storage as you do surf launches and landings.
 thanks brotha
