I'd go with the longest option out of your list (or something longer that's not on your list).  Good luck.   :smt001

i agree... no need to go bigger than 13. I paddle an ocean kayak p-13. I load it by myself and it fits nicely on my crv. I have also paddled it for 6 salty season and it i still floating fine.

Have you test paddled an Eddyline Caribbean, 12' or 14'?

I have not even seen one, how would you rate them as far as being angler driven and speed are concerned.

I have the 12' and 14' eddyline. They are not angler specific, but give you the option to rig it the way you want. They are faster then any kayak I have owned before. They will be faster then most of the kayaks you have listed. You could always demo them for free at Lodi Lake with the Headwaters. PM me if you have any further questions.

Well...when it comes to the ocean, a longer boat would provide more benefits than a mere "speed increase." Long boats aren't just for tall/big guys.

Do yourself a favor and paddle the Eddyline... 14 foot Caribbean is like paddling a cloud. Drive to lodi and play all day with Dan @ headwaters. You will find the boat for you there and come home with it. Look at the stealth kayaks too. If you were first a paddler, second a fisher... this is the crossover you want. Longer = less effort against current and tracking while you go threw slop. Headwaters Kayak in Lodi. Go play, make it a whole day... :smt007
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

In the 13" range for the salt I'd consider the following depending on your preference for pedal vs paddle:

Hobie Revo 13'
Ocean Kayak Prowler 13'
Ocean Kayak Trident 13'
Tarpon 140 (OK, a little over 13')

I have been yakking in all manner of craft for 15 yrs so IMHO If you are really into fishing, pedaling winds hands down err hands free over paddle only craft Your legs are the largest muscles. Last time I opined this I got attacked by an avid but overly righteous paddler.  :smt006 I fucking LOVE paddling, but pedaling is mo bettah.

Come out to Santa Cruz and take one of my Raptors out for a demo paddle sometime.  Fish all day if you like... just bring it back cleaned.

Check out  the customer reviews on Kayakfishingmag.net  Raptor is one of the top rated boats. and at $1,150 with the comfort seat you're getting your money's worth.

Can't beat that offer.  Even if you bring the Raptor back a little dirty, Jim is very forgiving.  Just don't text him.   :smt005

Would anyone recommend one of the Malibu kayaks?  The X-13 or X-Caliber?

Also, hitting up Baitman for a free demo is definitely a good idea!  I just met Jim today and might check one out.
