I meet a Florida guide who's brother worked on a tilapia farm and he said after seeing how they live, he would never eat one again.  His main concern was how they eat their own poo.  The farm was top notch, but the fish are trash eaters.

No more tilapia for me, ever!
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Let it be known that Tilapia has the most highest tolerance on Parasite and Fish deceases. What type of fish you think that doenst eat their poop? Even if they dont literally I am sure technically. just saying...

Many fish species eat other fishes and animal's poop, not only theirs.  Cows eat their pukes, literally, several times over.
'
Still, I will eat these, except farmed tilapias.

Some workers at China fish farms would not eat the fish that they grew, so why would I?

Nothing against China/Chinese but any product edible and made in China I dont eat or buy them.. However, I love Chinese food cook and made here :smt005 . I have a small Tilapia Farm in PI and I do eat and love to eat them. Only because I know where they came from.

Nice - I'd read an article about farmed talapia and prawns/shrimp from China - they were recycling farmed pig feces by feeding it to the talapia and prawn farms (dried out and cut up)... big demand in China for pork, I can only imagine that this is one of many creative ways to re-use pig poo. No thanks. Nothing from China for me :)

When I go to WalMart and other stores, it was getting harder for me to find in the label where the fish were farmed or caught. Sometimes, in the label, there is a big USA name of a US based company, but then in the fine print, "Imported From China, packaged by US Company"

So I never buy fish there, even their fish sticks.

Yes, tilapia is worse than bacon.

Tilapia is an unremarkable, inferior white fish.

Bacon is delicious and awesome.

Farmed Tilapia are feminized by adding large amounts of hormone to the water they live in. This is done to increase yield as females are much larger than males. The hormones will sex change any males.

In the interest of keeping my manhood well and good tilapia is off the menu in my household.

Admittedly a whole tilapia deep fried cuban style is very tastey.

OK, so not only do they eat poo, they are treated like michael jackson?

Yesterday, I ate two pieces of a tilapia dish at the Chaminade Father's day brunch.  No wonder I had an insatiable urge to moonwalk my way to the toilet

"...worse than eating bacon."
Well, duh.
Bacon is the best. So everything else is naturally "worse" than bacon.
