Fishing Santa Cruz and Capitola for halibut! Only hooked up twice these past 3 trips and lost both next to my yak! I've been getting hooked up when slack tide starts to come. Using love anchovies and frozen squid. I've been reading a lot and getting a little frustrated. What would you guys use for Hali? Lures? Places?

Sounds like you're doing something right--if you hooked 2 halibut in 3 trips! That's a good ratio. Now you just gotta work on your gaff routine :-)

Or Net. Some folks use swimbaits pearl or any whitey color.

Btw I have 3 oz blade runner jig heads but my swim baits are just not wide enough to fit perfectly! Any recommended big swim baits rather than my 6 inch big hammers

Nothing wrong with the 6" big hammers.  LOTS of people catch them on that.
