About to purchase a WS Ride 135!  I look forward to learning as much as I can from this forum in the aspects of kayaking in general and kayak fishing in particular!

Welcome! Be sure to join one of the "hook-ups". There are several of us in the Tri-Valley area.

Welcome, if you're in Livermore you can check out Del Valle for free except the mussel inspection, every 3rd Friday until the end of the year.  Great place to work things out on your kayak.

Mussel inspection fee is good for 30 days so keep the paperwork.

I wont make it this month but probably a few others since I work out there. Hit the last free day and picked up a few stripers in the narrows on the fly rod.

So it's been a while since I said I was buying the Ride and yesterday I finally did!  Got a great deal from Sunrise Mountaineering and great service from Heather and Phil!

Excuse the question but a few mentioned 'hookups.'  What is that and how do I post?

Thanks and look forward to meeting some locals out on the water!

From the home page pick "forum"

Then 2nd and 3rd listings are hookups and reports, public is for public and members with less than 10 posts, Members is for members with 10 posts or more.

Review some reports and make some positive comments, post up some more questions, take that thing for a test drive and report back.  10 posts is pretty easy to get, just don't try 10 one word posts to get there.

Enjoy

Finally was able to take the Ride out for its maiden voyage at Lake Del Valle this afternoon. Had a great time but am kind of leery of the high seat that it came with. Will be ordering the low seat this week as I felt that was a bit more stable due to the lower C.G.   Otherwise had a great time!

Have to practice loading and unloading the kayak without looking like a doofus!  I purchased the C-Tug and that did make thing quite a bit easier once on the cart!

You might want to spend a little more time in the yak with that seat before you give up on it.  Getting comfortable on a yak takes a little time and a little exposure to less than flat and calm water.  I'm not familiar with your particular yak but I can tell you that experience makes a huge difference in stability and comfort.  Lots of guys are moving to the higher/more comfortable seats and there have been lots of great reviews regarding the comfort and I haven't seen a lot of comments regarding lack of stability.  You definitely want to feel stable, especially if you get out on the salt but time just might take care of the issue.
