Hi guys, I've done enough searching the web and reading up on reviews on Kayaks, that my brain is about to explode. I just want to get a kayak thats good for the surf from HMB all the way to Humboldt and SF Bay for fishing. Something fast and stable,
hoping to link up with a group from NCKA and hit the open water asap. I'm divided by either forking out the $ on either a Revo 13 or a Cuda 14. Just need you local guys who own either to chime in and point me the right direction. Any hookups with a local dealer would be awesome, I'm locally from Santa Rosa but willing to go anywhere to save a buck.

thanks for the help.

PM ATD for his advice on which boat he likes and what he thinks about both. He has both of them. I know the answers, but you need to hear it from him.

Don't buy without test riding. What works for others will not necessarily work for you.

If you are going to be 80% rock/ling and 20% salmon/hali I would get the cuda
If you are going to be 80% salmon/hali and 20% rock/ling I would get the revo
If you don't know... get both the cuda and revo OR get a Eddyline Caribbean 14

The Eddyline is light, good in the surf, glides effortlessly over kelp, handles wind and swell and paddles as fast as most 15-16' kayaks. I am not sponsored by any kayak manufacturer as many on this site are. Spend a long time test paddling anything you are thinking of buying. If you are looking for a a bargain, I would buy a used kayak on the web or maybe the MBK sale which is coming soon.

Check Windy Toys in Santana Rosa for both kayaks

WindToys is no longer a Jackson Dealer...

SlackTai, I have a extra Cuda14 you're welcome to barrow anytime you'd like.  I'm just a little north of you.
Definitely try before you buy.

SlackTai - might want to check out CCK's demo day on 6/21 at Lake Natoma.  Here's the link.  They will have the full line of Hobie and Jackson kayaks so you can demo them back-to-back to get an initial feel for them.

Cuda = stable, but it does not = fast. Good kayak but it's better at marketing than paddling. Just my opinion though...everybody else seems to enjoy them, until they try a different kayak. What's your height/weight? Because that should factor into your decision too.
