I have misplaced my out back seat. Is there a seat better than a stock hobie for an Outback. I would like a better seat if possible. Unless I figure out where my seat is.

I was going to ask the same thing. Only complaint on my new outback is the seat is terrible. And the locking system is annoying. Much prefer my 04 outback seat.

My buddy misplaced his seat during a move so he ordered a high-back Austin kayak one that holds water bottles and has a middle pocket.  He used it for a week at lake Powell and said it was much more comfortable than the Hobie one.

My '04 seat was bigger and supporte my back plus had a couple pocket pouch. New one is thin. Makes my ass numb. Doesn't support my back. Gets a late crease in the lumbar region when used. Had the locks that kind of sucked. Wonder why they changed it

Several members here have recommended the Surf to Summit Expidition as a good replacement seat.  I bought the Austin high back seat when it was on sale a few months ago and couldn't get comfortable in it because the side adjustment straps kept loosening. Went back to the Hobie seat

The straps are not correctly run through the buckle...    Try re-routing it.   I find them to be VERY reliable.

If you're willing to make some minor modifications then the seat in this thread might work for you.

I'm not a fan of the stock Hobie seat on my adventure. I tried several other seats, and couldn't get comfortable on any of them. No matter how I strap an aftermarket seat, the bottom will slide out when pedaling. And, if I inserted the cam locks through the seat (just like the Hobie seat), the seat back is invariably too flimsy. In either case, pedaling efficiency is seriously degraded.

I ended up making a pvc backrest that inserts into the built-in rod holders. It's not exactly perfected yet (that's my next project...), but even in its present crude form it makes a huge difference. Without it, I can't pedal for more than a couple hours, but with it, I can do for 5 or 6 with no trouble. I'll post something once I get a chance to work on it a bit more.
I don't like stuff that sucks.

I use STS pro seats on all my kayaks including my AI. WAY better and more comfortable than the Hobie seats which kind of suck IMHO. Doesnt slip either.

i love my stock hobie seat, the air cushion on the back part is great + that gel bottom. I think i've been sitting on an ocean kayak comfort seat for too long so i think i'm spoiled with the hobie seat :smt044 :smt044
