Hello All,

I just got my first kayak and this seems like a great site to gather/share info.  I picked up an Old Town Predator 13 (I went big early) and can't wait to get it set up for fishing.  My background in rowing is mostly drift boats on rivers so I hope that makes a difference in the kayak, mainly reading a river I guess.

I live in Redding where I'm a Fire Captain and enjoy the outdoors and time on the water.

I'd love to do the Rockfish Wars so I just booked a site at Emerald!

Welcome to the madness. There is a small group up here that meet up occasionally. In fact, thinking of going out Sunday morning for some time on Shasta.

Yes!  We will be, I've only been out on a kayak a half dozen times but with Lake Shasta being so low we'll be hitting Whiskeytown hard this summer.  I plan to do the Sacramento River quite a bit too as I know it pretty well from fishing my drift boat.   Lots of mountain lakes nearby too.  I'm looking most forward to getting out in the saltwater!
