They are great boats. I remember a few years back I was fishing the RTM tourney, I was just north of Fort Ross with Raydon. I was in a Necky13 and Ray was in a Revo I believe. The North wind really started to pickup along with some white caps. I just needed to float south a bit around the corner to the protected area of the fort, but Ray had to go all the way up to Timber. I really didn't know Ray very well and I hadn't any experience with Hobie at that time. So I asked him, "Hey it's getting kinda snotty you might want to leave soon." He just looked at me and smiled and said something like "Oh, I'll be OK". He should of added the word "rookie" to the end of that.

Rookie was right. We fished a bit more and the weather got worse and worse. Soon enough he says, "Well I guess it's time to go and weigh in". Sure enough, he points the Revos nose North and off he went, cutting into the wind and waves with ease. Right then I was like.... what! Who was that guy and man I need that boat!

LoL....Hell Yeah Revo's ROCK!!! What I like the most Is my beer holder....J/K what's cool is you can hover over spots in current and then upgradeing from a pelican to a revo was like getting on a SHIP... instead of the dingy:)

Have fun with it!!! your world has changed you can never go back.... 8')

It's all about Today!!! Because who knows what tomorrow will bring... so Better get OTW n GetSome

The Mirage Drive aside, how does the Revo paddle? Does it compare with paddle only yaks?

I use to own a Trident 13 and it paddled way better than the Revo 13.  The Revo hull is round and T13 is more V shaped.  I'll take the Revo any day.  Hands free for fishing.

Without the mirage drive in it doesn't track well. Paddles like a boat 11 ft or less.
If paddling without the mirage drive, it is a must to put in the drive plug. Keeps the water drag down, or resistance from water coming in.

Doesn't the rudder help with the tracking?
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I dread paddling my 09 Revo. It does not track well. Probably due to the rounded, featureless hull. Granted, I never use the drive plug except if I have my son with me. The drive plug does help reduces drag, for sure. But even with the plug in, it isn't a great paddle yak. The only times I paddle it are launching & landing and potholing the kelp.
And yeah Juan...theoretically the rudder helps, but it's hard to paddle AND turn the rudder knob under your left thigh at the same time! Remember, the rudder is not controlled with your feet like other kayaks...there's a lever under your left leg. I don't look forward to the day I land in big surf & need to actually brace hard to prevent a dumpage...because I imagine, if it went sideways, it'd be pretty easy to roll over.
