Hey Hobie guys,

So... I've had my Outback for about a year now, and I only have one real complaint: the stock seat SUCKS. The worthless ass padding and low back just don't cut it when you're on the water for 6-8 hours at a time.

I have the Surf To Summit GTS Elite on my Scrambler XT, and I'm quite pleased with it. Nice seat padding and a nice, supportive and adjustable high back. Has anyone tried this seat on a Hobie? I'm curious how it works, given it doesn't have the little pegs/locks on the bottom like the stock Hobie seat. Will it slide around while I pedal?

Would love to hear your opinions before I start poking more holes in my Hobie to mount an aftermarket seat...

Thoughts?

I saw that turkey hunting seat thread. I might do something like that for freshwater fishing, but I want to keep my center of gravity nice n' low for ocean adventures.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah I fish 95% flatwater so it really works for me, but for the 5% of salt I will still be using the stock setup with an extra ass-pad/bleacher cushion.

Hobie icomfort air seat! Looks factory and is 10x better than the stock pad.

Jbaker- I might give that a try. I'd really like a higher back, but my main complaint is the pitiful amount of seat padding.

Really... What the hell was Hobie thinking?!? It's only like 1/2" of foam, IF THAT!

I've told a few people about this but for the butt pad this REI inflatable sit pad is my favorite - http://www.rei.com/product/845302/rei-sit-pad  cheaper than the i-comfort seat which is honestly a rip off at nearly $50.

I've used mine for three years and I love it.  it might shift a little but you can find a way to fix it to the seat.  I have so many different seats for different kayaks that I just throw it on there in any kayak I fish.

Good idea. I think a little self adhesive Velcro will do the trick. If not, gorilla tape.

I didn't care for the GTS Elite on my Hobies. While pedaling my back was rubbing hard, it doesn't have the lumbar support like to Hobie stock seat.  I own the REI inflatable sit pad too and stop using it because it moves out of place every time I move butt.  I have to keep repositioning it. Its also not puncture proof from hooks and fish spines.

I am sold on the Yak Pad Gel placed on top of my stock Hobie seat.  I've owned it for 4 years and never leave without it. It comes with cord that attaches to any seat and does not move.  :smt001 Puncture proof too.
