Habitat restoration does work

Caught 16 stripers in what used to be a dried up salt pan.  This pond is now FULL of big fish.

Wow, very cool ! I've see some very large stripers chasing bait in some of the restores salt ponds in the North Bay marshes. Awesome to see hard work paying off in the form of more robust fisheries.

Beast of a fish!  Cool.  Was the habitat restoration intended for stripers?  Or were the stripers just ancillary beneficiaries of the restoration?  I was under the impression that striped bass were being vilified in CA due to the whole non-native/salmon predator thing.

While the restoration efforts might not be specifically for striped bass, it's certainly a good sign they are present...they wouldn't be there is they couldn't find adequate forage, right?

I agree that things must be rosy right now in the restoration area if it's attracting large predators.  But I'd really like to learn more about the restoration project's objectives.  With the big push by management agencies to restore/enhance habitat for native species, I would think having my restoration area become flooded with non-native predators would be a bittersweet victory.  It'd be like attempting to restore habitat for a native species of frog, only to have your restoration area invaded by bullfrogs  .

But again, I don't know the objectives of this project so I'll shut up  .
