I will be running the Santa Cruz Half Marathon this Sunday 4/13 in memory of Joel.

Will be wearing my Team Mooch jersey and thinking about Joel as I shuffle through the miles.  :smt001

If anyone is in the SC area and not surfing or fishing or diving, any cheers, high fives, hugs and/or running company welcome...very easy to just jump in and run along with me.  :smt001

The race starts at 830am in front of the boardwalk, goes along west cliff to Natural Bridges, out onto the Wilder Bluffs and back for a finish at Cowells Beach.

Attached are some pics of me and my Team Mooch jersey...I'll be the big tall, slow guy.  :smt002

I will also be running with my friend Tracy Cockerham whose son Connor passed away from Stage 4 Melanoma earlier this year...Tracy will be running in Connor's memory and will also be running the Boston Marathon next weekend for him and to raise $ for Melanoma research...she has raised an amazing $28k+ already for the Boston race...if you see her running with me please yell out Go Tracy!  :smt004

Race Bibs/Packet Pick-up
The Santa Cruz ½ Marathon and 10K / 5K will be using timing chips again this year and will not be mailing out any of the pre-race materials (bibs, chips, etc). We will be offering various times and locations prior to the race for you to pick up all of your pre-race materials so as to make race day worry-free.

If you aren’t able to make one of the pre-race registrations, rest-assured but come early. We will NOT be offering race registration on race day

It's a beautfiul course Martin...you should come out!

Jim

About to get ready to go!

Usually the day before a race I rest, hydrate and stay off my feet...

Yesterday I decided to do the exact opposite...put in a solid paddling/exploring/diving day and shot a mess of blues (including a 3/4 inch DOTY upgrade and tie for my PB), 2 olives, 2 lings, cab and monkey.

Pretty sure Mooch would approve of me taking advantage of the beautiful ocean conditions...even if it means I am starting the day sore and will take a little longer on the race.

Live life!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim
