We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

Yikes! 16 or 18ft???  Did anyone see the harbor seal at the last moment swim by the shark? Holy crap! But give the guy big time credit, it appears he went to alert his buddie,...instead of checking out.   Every divers worst dream.

on the flicker link there are some still frames to the right of the video as it plays...
the second to last side shot (more blues than greens edit)shows the size of the dorsal compared to the shark and the size of the tail compared to the dorsal --and the distance between the two fins for that size shark...
The GWS that came up right under and behind my drain plug on last December's solstice ,was around the size of this shark..
I was able to see the about 1/2 to 3/4 of the top of the dorsal but later I wondered why the tail was so tall too, that did not fit with how my mind sees a GWS...
I also later wondered why- if the dorsal was so close to my drain plug area(like 4-5 feet at the most)-how come I did not get bumped...
I think it went under me with it's head at the last seconds before doing the bronco bull dance and churning the calm water like a washing machine...
anyways look how tall the tail is and look how small the dorsal looks compared to the girth and overall length of  that fatty in that flicker clip...not at all like on t.v or the movies when I was growing up and not something I could right away make sense of up close when It was right behind me...
I would know now right away if I saw any part of a GWS  from my yak again, but, at the time, seeing only the fins and blocked by dark mirror water ,no depth or shape,or length....I had no idea what it was for maybe 5 seconds  :smt009

that diver has nerves of steel...no jumping of the frames...no scream..or startled gulps....I think that shark was 14 feet ...hard to tell though...figure the teenage sea lion was at least 3 feet maybe 4

Like I said before I don't think they like the bubbles scuba divers make  :smt001

Now if those guys were free diving they would look more like seals  :smt009

Like a ghost dude......

The shark knew the divers were there before they spotted him......he just wasn't interested in them.
