I heard about this fish a few wks ago. Awesome catch, but I don't understand how it lost 9ozs between the tourney & the certified scale @ market. And was still released alive...  Also, if his co-angler netted the fish, then it won't count for IFGA records.

Not sure where that is from, doesn't IGFA allow others to help net or gaff fish?

Also, how is it a 8lb line class record if he was using braid?  Was he using 8lb braid?

You can use 120lb kite string w/2lb mono leader and you'd still qualify for the 2lb line class.
But you m/b right about netting being allowed. I just know IGFA has a history of DQ'ing fish due to random infractions (like if someone else touched the rod while you fought the fish etc).

That's dumb.

As for the touching line or rod or whatever, that is spelled out in the IGFA rules.  No one can touch line or rod, rod can't be rested on anything etc.  Not that I'd ever submit a record.
