The entire fish must be photographed laying straight on a measuring board with either the fishes top or bottom jaw
touching the boards end (0” mark). We will NOT measure your fish nor will ANY fish be allowed at the check-in table.

So... it doesn't matter, open or closed, as long as one or the other is clearly touching the end of the board. I always thought that rule was unnecessary.  I think the fish's out of water time should be as short as possible.  :smt003

OK, I'm in then - that rule was/is a bit much.
I agree with getting the fish back in the water as fast as possible too.

I have a campsite reserv I need to get rid of or pay $10 penalty to cancel (who knew). Anyone want it? PM me and we can discuss on phone :)

Is it for just Friday night?

I still don't understand what the big deal or difficulty is in taking a picture of a fish with it's mouth closed. Lay it on the board, push it forward to shut mouth, take picture, release. Takes less than a minute open or closed.

The last LMB I caught I could not get its mouth to close. Either way, fish are bigger with their mouths closed by a tiny bit.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

It depends on the fish. A LMB with mouth fully open may be a bit smaller, but if a large LMB has its mouth only half way open it will be as much as a half inch longer than with the mouth closed.

Rob: I mostly don't like that rule after I killed a nice smallie at Folsom by taking a bunch of pics after having a previous larger smb dq'ed due to the mouth being open 1/3 of a f'n inch. thats why i probabaly wont fish AOTY again.

 :dontknow: Why sooooo seriousssssah  :batman:

Rob you're 100% correct, you can adjust the mouth however you want. Some may do the same, some may just drop the fish on the trough, snap a quick pict n move on. It's all relative.  I look forward to seeing some pigs on that trough Rob.  :fishing1

Been reading this thread , we should have for fun team live bait vs.team artificial. :smt003. As for the photos we could have a separate category for coolest action photo with fish . Let's make it fun !

So that's how to do it. I was wondering why all the fish I measured always had an open mouth. Forward pressure closes the mouth, good to know.
