Last ditch effort!

Wife's car was total'd a couple weeks ago.  Been shuttling her to work, kids to school & reverse again!  Getting tired of this!  Giving her my old Toyota Camry & having to break down & get a truck for commuting & hauling the boat/kayak(s).

Have my mind set on a 2000/2001 Toyota Tundra V8.  My cash budget may not be set for that, but theres where I'm at.

Anyone know one for sale?  I've put close to 700 miles on my car this week alone traveling to the bay area to look at these; dealerships, craigslist adds, etc...  Haven't found "the one" yet.

   Thanks guys!

Bill

solid trucks.  My buddies friend has one, but I don't think he's selling.  What is your budget?

Lower the better :smt002

Somewhat depends on the truck.  I am AMAZED how much of a difference there is between KBB, Edmonds & NADA for the SAME used truck.

Well, lower is VERY subjective.  I see an 04 you probably could get for around 8k.  I've drooled over the new body style since they came out  (~05?) but I can justify the purchase or the gas mileage  :smt044

Where are you seeing the '04?  link?  I'm most certainly under $10k, I would really like to be around $6k.  That's a fairly open range.

One of my buddies is looking to sell his '98 T100 soon. Extended cab, long bed. I can ask him how much.

V8?

Just looked it up.  Looks like the T100 were all V6.  Need the +2V's :smt005 for towing.

Hmmm, yeah you right. I totally assumed it was a V8. Those old T100's are solid trucks. Will keep my eyes peeled for an 00/01 Tundra (I'm always browsing CL, ads, etc). You looking for a regular cab, ext cab, short bed, long bed?

V8, access cab or 4-door extended.  6 or 8 bed doesn't make a world of difference for me.  ~under 200k miles.  Price is key.  Some exterior paint issues ok, within reason.  It's a truck.  Trucks aren't meant to be "pretty".  Hauling the boat & our garbage trailer to the dump with it.  I've either called or personally seen just about every Tundra on C.L. under $10k within a 100 mile drive of me + several at dealerships in the bay area.

Thanks!

I have four 2003 Tundra's in my fleet, all with around 200k and all still running strong...a few gremlins popping up, but nothing major...i highly recommend them!

Think I just closed a deal on one pending test drive & smog results.  I'll miss my 32mpg on my '91 Camry.

Hi Bill,
If you haven't found one yet, I think I saw one for sale yesterday, grey/extended cab I think, it was dark. I couldn't stop to look at it, but it might be what your'e searching for.
Take the MarMonte exit #431 from Watsonville, and turn towards LaSelva. It was parked on the corner at the first stop sign.

Jim,

Thanks for the heads up!  I picked one up late last week.  The Toyota's seem to hold their value & since my pocketbook was lite to start with, it was a challenge to find what I wanted, for what I could afford.

If someone is ALSO looking for one, I did have a great conversation with someone up in Valejo with a 4-door 2004 165k miles in descent condition from what I could tell by the photos.  Can be had for around $7k.

Thanks to everyone for being my eyes out there while I looked!!!!
