Had a blast paddling and fishing down the Trinity last Tuesday. Didn't find the fish and still need to learn how to fish a river but one of the best days of paddling I've had yet. I put thigh straps on a Jackson Coosa for a little more control but man does that boat handle in the White Water. Super stable, just point and shoot any rapid up to class III.

What section did you fish? I've been bouncing between the South Fork Eel the Russian and the Mad rivers. I'll be back on the Mad this coming weekend.

Awesome, thats a great section to float. Nothing over II and very fishy. Bring that boat over and float one of these coastals, they apparantly are full of fish (the mad is easy float, good place to start.

Way cool  :smt004.  I haven't floated that section, but I've done several drifts through the Del Loma, Hawkins Bar, and Willow Creek sections with my OK Scrambler.  Oftentimes it's more effective to use the kayak for transportation to prime bankfishing spots.  That clear water makes it real  easy to spook them with a boat.  When floating through frogwater, it can be productive to throw spinners from the 'yak or boondog bait.

Next time I'll take the trip and cut in to 3 legs. That way you can really cover the water. There lots of great bank spots that you can't hike in to but can get to from the river. I only saw 2 other guys fishing the whole  trip. I really want to get better with the fly rod but next time I'll bring a spinning set up too. Spinners would have been the ticket in a lot of that section.

Post a hookup next time. Maybe the system forecasted for next week will move more fish up.

No pix?  Sorry didn't happen.

Sound like a fun adventure if it WOULD have happened!!

Next time bring your camera, and borrow one of those MX;s from Danny Boy.  then, write up a comparison article for KFM. World-wide fame can be yours!!
