I have a loved one who just started attending CSUMB. YEEHAWW!! I know have 2 reasons to visit one of the greatest spots I love. I also hope to be able to give some kind of support to the great group of people who are trying to serve as stewarts for our fishing future along the coast. I will try to plan my trips for meetings held. Pat, Randy & Sacyak I would love to talk about coming down soon and learning the ropes(local info, fishing issues, testing out brand new Tarpon13T and introducing you to my Daughter.) I would really like my daughter to meet you Pat, She has one girlfriend from South lake Tahoe High attending with her but no family members close by. She is very experienced fishing but has gotten away from it since going and living with her Mom. I hope I'm not being too forward but good role models are hard to find and I think my Daughter could use one like you. Anyone else that can chime in please do I need to know launch/camp spots, parking, eating spots, ect. Very cool! Her b-day is 9/26 so I will try and come down around then and between now and then I will try and become educated about the issues you guy's are dealing with. I was right behind you in the sign up line for mendo so I guess I will meet you and Randy there. Have a great time in Alaska.   Randall

I am a CSUMB grad, class of 2002!
Worked as an Academic Advisor for the school for 3 years so I know a little about which courses she needs to take, depending on which degree program she chooses. I also have contacts that still work in Advising if she needs help choosing courses.

Congrats to your daughter! She will either love it or hate it. Hopefully the former.

And now you have a reason to go kayak fishing in beautiful Monterey Bay! Good deal!

That is too weird, my daughters birthday is also 9/26 but she will only be 10.  If you are down in the area, I would be glad to fish with you and/or your daughter and show you some spots.  I am still learning my self but I know where to go and find the fish locally and my skills are rapidly improving.  My wife is a 5th grade teacher at an elementry school very close to CSUMB campus.  While she does not fish she does like to ride mountain bikes.  Does your daughter ride?  Does she baby sit, actually not a baby any more, how abour little girl with the same birthday sitting?  We live close to the campus and are always looking for recreation partners.  Drop a line when you will be around and we can hook up.

NICE!
Sounds like my wife's dad! Met my wife at CSUMB back in 98. We got married last July.

I've got some shore-bound spots for you to try too, if you or your daughter might be interested. See ya,

Spoken like a great dad Randall!  I have 2 daughters myself (little..ages 6&3) and I already envision meeting their future boyfrieds.  Should I meet them at the door with a shotgun, or invite them in to the couch as I am sharpening my hunting knives and explaining date etiquitte?  Sorry, but I couldn't help but to chime in with a little smart-assed humor.  Hope I didn't rub you the wrong way.  I would enjoy fishing with you as well.  I live less than a mile from campus, so if your daughter needs anything, let me know.  (Don't worry I am happily married!)  And like sackyak said, I'm always in the market for a good babysitter too.

The guarantee of flat conditions is tough but there are several places to launch that are almost alway easy even if the swell is bigger outside.  MBK and Stillwater come to mind other spots are more hit and miss.  I am impressed by the response from Seaside locals.  Is there any interest in a get together in addition to or after fishing?  Maybe an afternoon BBQ after fishing where we can socialize a little and included the kids, wives, girlfriends etc.
