That's going to be tough for me to make, I'm doing a big parking lot booth at the Fly Shops season open sale on Friday. Might be able to run down after that. How about some rescue and re-entry classes? I should have my ACA level 2 certification wrapped up by then.

I imagine that it would be an opportunity for small but essential items like leashes, compass, dry boxes, vhfs, etc. to be exhibited. Weekend warriors might tend to shrug off the purchase of such items till the next outing, but combining an event with a pro staff or dealer exhibit and otw explanation of the importance and necessity of these items might be good for both parties.

And as I read this I notice that there are 5 guests reading it as well. Maybe a good chance to invite some guests into the fold.

I'd like to see some kayak rigging seminars on track systems.

How to rig the track itself?  Or how to use the track for rigging?  I guess both, huh?  Any more specifics?  Thanks.

-Allen
Both.  What are the available track options (like yakattack has the GT175, GT90, GT90L), how they are to be rigged (backing?  some of those are threaded), what available options are for rigging something like a scotty laketroller, how solid/strong the mounts are for different applications.  What types of accessories, mounting ideas for electronics and rod holders, etc.  I find that the details online about these track systems is...mediocre at best.

Sounds like you'd be perfect to run some rescue and re-entry classes!

We have rescue, safety, and paddling technique high on the list of topics.

I would be interested in how to install & use a downrigger from a kayak. I'm sure if you ask 10 people you'd get 10 answers, but I would be interested in learning from a demo/discussion.

I'd also like to make a call out for volunteers.  Events like this take quite a bit to run and the 2 man show of Bushy and I aren't going to cut it.  We really need your help.  Let's start with a few more prominent positions.

Anyone want to volunteer to be Director of the Seminars?  The job entails soliciting and selecting the seminars as well as coordinating the seminar area at the event.

Anyone want to volunteer to be Social Director?  We have the whole waterside area we are in.  This has the potential to have some "fun" associated with it.

It has come to my attention that a group like the Loose Screws may be a perfect candidate to take this on.  I hear those guys know how to have a good time.   :smt002

Are you kidding! It took two hours of persistent badgering to get Sonny to conduct the AOTY awards last year.  :smt010

Bump.  We're really in need of some volunteers in different capacities to make this event even more successful.  So if you have any spare cycles in the next couple months and would like to get involved, please shoot me a PM.  Thanks.

Guys, this is getting good.  I wanted to update you all on where we are.  Currently we have the following companies in the strongly interested to actually committed category, with many more in the wings.  I'm pushing hard to have a more formal list by the end of the month.  Stay tuned.

Jackson Kayaks, Ocean Kayak, Wilderness Systems, Hobie, Native Watercraft, Santa Cruz, Bending Branches, Werner, Adventures Sports, Clavey, Headwaters, Kayak Connections.

What about kayak races ?  Maybe get a rep from each manufacturer in their fastest boat. We could even place bets like horse racing.  Kayak-soccer is fun to if it is not windy. Use your paddle instead of your foot and one of those light plastic kids balls. It's kind of like polo on a kayak instead of a horse.
