Fished it Fri morn for 4.5 hours for nada. Not even a scratch. Even the secret bait did not work this time. Saw a couple jumpers. ZERO flow and the water dropped 6-8" in the time I was there. Lots of debris floating on top and getting fouled in my gear. Ill be back.

That's what happens when you trophy hunt! If I just fish for fun I just might catch one.

isn't San Pablo open  by then ? back up plan maybe ?

SPR opens 2/7 and fishing should be great because of the lack of rain.

Ouch  Again…. !!!  :smt043

As far as San Pablo,  fishing probably would be great,  but the water is way low,  long walk to the shoreline and proved a bit problematic last year,  even though we are going smaller on this one with supposed able bodied…  we were trying to keep this one in Sac area to coincide with new contacts of vets from ISE, and Carl from Adventure has the concession there. RacinRacidRobScarfaceYaknapster and him are coordinating all the extra equipment we need as well as Carl is taking care of some of the headache/expediting license and paperwork for the event at that location.

I vote, " Stay the Course!!! ",  following your lead ATD, not to worry,  none of our HOW outings have been barn busters as far as the catch quota, even at a Private Bass Pond..   :fishing1

But there will be pressure on 2 Nor Cal HOW Guides,     :fish2

GB and RacinRancidRobScarfaceYaknapster have 100% success getting their vets on fish…    bmb.2,  aren't you in that club too?

Sounds like the logistics up from the shore are nice, and as long as it's not too far to the shore @ Negro,

I think were good to go...

Who named it negro-bar? That place needs a new name. Something from this century. African-american nightclub perhaps.

Negro Bar is a gold strike area/mining camp/town presently located under Lake Natoma from the late 1840s and early 1850s. It is on the south bank of the American River across from the present day Negro Bar State Park. Another one nearby is Mormon Island which is now emerging out of Folsom Lake after many decades due to the extremely low water.

The Folsom area was home to many groups of people way back when during the Gold Rush days. Lots of us who live here have small (one-man) gold mining tunnels under our homes to this day. And nearly all of the lower parts of town were dredged for gold by floating barges/steam boats. When driving through the lower/flat parts of town you will see big piles of round cobble rock. They are known affectionately as "Folsom Potatoes".

Here's a bit of history of Negro Bar/Mormon Island/Prairie City and the Folsom area.

bmb.2,  aren't you in that club too?
most certainly not - my anglers have been skunked more often than not...Dead Valle, Natomas 2 years ago, Shadow Cliffs, Lodi Lake...I think the only place they actually catch fish at is Kelsey!
